Mystery Male Chart
April 11, 1956
2:48 AM
Medford, MA
You will find that the interpretation of your chart is written in simple
language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to
contradict another statement, then you exhibit these opposite qualities at
different times in your life. For example, a statement that you are highly
sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly
contradict each other; this means that you vacillate, and need both sociability
and solitude at different times.
The astrological factor that the interpretation is based on is also given. The
astrological factor is given for the benefit of astrologers and students of
astrology. If you are not a student of astrology, then obviously the factor will
not be meaningful to you, and you can ignore it.
If you find this interpretation of your birth chart interesting and informative,
you might want to discuss your birth chart with a professional astrologer to
learn more about the astrological influences on your life.

Chapter 1: General Characteristics
Your fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by
the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique balance of
these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth
(practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual
qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).
Your "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that most people are
"unbalanced" or lopsided, and if you are lacking or deficient in a certain
element (or elements), it simply means that you need to consciously develop that
aspect of yourself to learn to appreciate and/or to work harder in that
dimension of life.
Sometimes we overvalue the element that we are least endowed with, sensing it as
a lack within ourselves, but more often we neglect or ignore it. The qualities
described below will be reiterated and explained in more detail in the following
chapters.
You prize personal independence and autonomy so much that you're apt to downplay
your needs for closeness and caring. While you express indignation, anger,
excitement, or enthusiasm rather freely, you hide your feelings of sadness or
inadequacy. You may dismiss your own and others' feelings as insignificant and
unimportant. Letting others know when you are hurting and need their support and
help is hard for you because you feel that they will not respect you if you
display this sort of vulnerability.
Striving to be (and often believing yourself to be) emotionally self-sufficient
limits your ability to be truly intimate with others and to get the nurturing
you need. You are also often rather insensitive to how your behavior affects
other people.
As you will read in the next chapter, you are able to sufficiently detach
yourself from your own self-centered aims and desires to take an active interest
in other people. You are actually quite social and frequently moderate your
egocentric tendencies in order to accommodate others' viewpoints.

Fire is Strong, Water is Weak (F,E,A,W Scores = 31,4,13,1)

Chapter 2: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
The following is a description of your basic stance towards life, the way others
see you, the way you come across, the face you show to the world. In Chapter 3
you will read about the "The Inner You: Your Real Motivation", which describes
the kind of person you are at heart and where your true priorities lie. Read
this chapter and the next one and compare them - there may be significant
differences between them, in which case "the inner you" may not shine through
and others are in for some surprises when they get to know you at a more than
superficial level. This chapter describes the costume you wear, your role in
life, while Chapter 3 talks about the real person inside the costume.
Forward-looking and progressive, you are a person who supports change,
innovation, and human advancement, and you are often strongly committed to a
humanitarian cause or social improvement. You are extremely aware of the
interconnection and interdependence of all people, and are always relating
personal issues to some larger framework. You see the political or social
ramifications of personal actions, and you wish to contribute something of value
to the world, or at least to your community or group.
The ideals of equality, fairness, human rights, brotherhood, social justice,
etc. color your whole outlook and approach to life. You are truly interested in
the good of the whole and not only your own personal well-being.
Sometimes you may overlook or ignore your own and others' personal needs,
desires, and feelings, especially if they do not conform to your ideals of how
one SHOULD feel or act. Though you have little patience for conservative
narrow-mindedness, you yourself are sometimes dogmatic about your beliefs and
ideologies.
You are attracted to the avant-garde, the latest advances in human thought and
development, and you are eclectic and cosmopolitan in your tastes. You may
consider yourself a "global citizen" rather than claiming a narrow, limited
identification based on nationality, race, familial heritage, etc. You are
strongly influenced by your peer group and the flavor of the times in which you
grew up, more so than by parental or family influences. You are involved and
active in groups, community efforts, cultural and progressive movements.
On a personal level, you are friendly and express a kind of impersonal good will
towards others. You probably have many acquaintances but few really close
friends, and much of your closeness with others is based on a sharing of common
ideals and principles, rather than on emotional ties. Others see you as a good
friend and comrade, who is objective, fair, and rather detached emotionally. You
do not often show your emotions, and may be unsure how to respond to others'
emotional expression, for you tend to be very rational.
You are also very independent and refuse to be possessed by any individual. You
are not comfortable with traditional sexual roles and are inclined to have
"liberated" views about marriage, relationships, sharing of child rearing
responsibilities, etc. You need to have a life outside of the personal, domestic
sphere and to be involved with people on a broader scale. The nurturing of
family ties, and close, deep, personal sharing may take a back seat to your work
or outside social activities.
You appear to have a very honorable and generous attitude toward others, as if
you have their best interests at heart. Because to others you seem tolerant,
understanding, or even wise, they may also turn to you for counsel.
You can get by in life almost by personality alone. There is a radiant, warm,
attractive quality about you that others can't help responding to favorably.
Usually you appear confident and clear about who you are, and it's very
difficult not to notice you or feel your influence when you are around.
You love children and young people and are likely to provide an intellectually
stimulating environment for them. You are inclined to lead a very social life
and establishing contact with others comes easy for you.
Your life never is a secret to anyone, for you like to publicize your plans and
let people know exactly where you stand. Others are drawn to you because of your
ease in conversational ability and people often may seek your advice.
You seem to enjoy projecting yourself differently to others than you really are,
giving them a false impression of you. You are inclined to associate with odd
and peculiar people and are likely to have very strange romantic encounters.

Chapter 3: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Although you are a team player and you put the good of the group ahead of
yourself, you are very competitive and aggressive also. When your colleagues do
not put forth as much energy as you, you quickly become discouraged, frustrated,
and alienated from the group. You can also make an excellent leader, manager, or
coach, spurring the team, group, or company to excel.
You are a person who thrives on challenge, and you often feel that you must
battle your way through life, depending upon no one and nothing but your own
strength, intelligence, and courage. You believe in being totally honest, true
to oneself and one's own vision and convictions, even if that means standing
alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor, and authenticity are your gods, and
you have no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
You crave the freedom to do things in your own way, and you work very well
independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not
your style. You like to be the chief -or to go it alone.
You love action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little
rut, then you are always ready to stir things up, do something new, make
changes, bring in some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are like death to you.
You are not afraid of trying something that's never been done before, and even
though you may be seen as a fool sometimes, you also discover, invent, and
initiate things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following your
own star are the breath of life for you, and you wilt (or get very frustrated
and angry) if you cannot do this.
You are spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic, and assertive. You believe
in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and you think of yourself
as a strong person -even invincible. You hate being ill or in any way in a
position of dependency. Accepting your own human limitations and emotional needs
is often difficult for you.
You are basically aggressive in your attitudes and have less facility in the
receptive arts of relating to others, picking up subtle messages and nuances,
listening, nurturing, and harmonizing. Often you are so fired up about your own
projects or goals that you inadvertently run over or ignore other people's
feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others'
contributions, ideas, and feelings would go a long way in improving your
relationships. Your impatience to get on with things causes you to be rather
insensitive, and to therefore alienate others unnecessarily. You also frequently
try to accomplish your ends by using anger or some version of a temper tantrum.
You would gain much by learning to slow down, relax, and just let things be
sometimes, but your energetic, restless nature rarely allows you to do this.
The urge to learn and to communicate is essential to you, and you express
yourself very well through writing, teaching or sharing ideas and information.
You are persuasive and fluent with language.
Restless and inquisitive, you enjoy being mobile and taking short trips and
excursions in order to see for yourself what is going on in the world around
you.
The above description of you is so deeply ingrained that you have little
objectivity and often little appreciation for other, different ways of
approaching life. You tend to be one-sided. There is little ambiguity in your
makeup and you generally know what you want and what will make you happy.
You tend to see things from your perspective only and to be rather subjective.
You also enjoy talking and expressing your views but you don't always listen as
well. You have a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and need
constant mental stimulation and activity.
You have big aspirations but do not struggle or labor to achieve them. Your
self-confidence and inner harmony attract success and benefits to you in an
almost magical way. Your optimism and cheerful generosity also win you many
allies and successes in life.
You have a deep belief in your own power and your ability to survive any change
and to emerge victoriously from any difficulty. You have tremendous inner
resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, you pursue your
desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and you
may be somewhat compulsive, even fanatical at times. You like to live intensely
and have no respect for people who are weak, who avoid confronting life and
their own destiny.

Chapter 4: Mental Interests and Abilities
Outspoken and direct, you are always eager to express your ideas and opinions
and don't mind opposing the consensus and stirring up a little controversy. You
have fresh, original ideas and much enthusiasm for anything new and untried, but
once the novelty has worn off, you are interested in another new idea or
project. You never seem to have enough time to do all you want to. You are very
honest, speak decisively and convincingly about things you believe in, and are
unable to pretend to agree with someone if you honestly don't. You may be
somewhat deficient in tact.
Inquisitive and communicative, your mind seems to be "on" all of the time and
you are forever gathering information and sharing ideas. Your attention span may
be rather brief; you have many and diverse interests, and are easily distracted.
You learn quickly, are eager to pass on what you are learning and thinking
about, and may talk excessively.
You are a natural psychologist or counselor, interested in the inner
motivations, feelings, personal life, and problems of others. You are a
sympathetic listener and you also love to discuss (endlessly!) your own
experiences and feelings. You tend to be very personal and subjective in your
point of view. You have a talent for getting others to talk about their lives,
dreams, desires, and other things that are personally meaningful to them. You
could be an excellent interviewer, reporter, or biographer. Idle talk and gossip
are your vices.
The study of the past - history, archeology, genealogy, etc. - is of great
interest to you. Psychology, symbolism, mythology, and languages are also areas
that you are drawn to.
Your desire to make a point sometimes overrides your receptivity to others'
views. You can be a good listener but often it is hard for you not to speak out.
Argumentative and rather aggressive and critical in discussions, you tend to
turn any conversation into a debate, and sometimes a verbal war. You could be a
spokesman for a righteous cause, a lawyer vigorously defending a client, a sharp
analyst or critic. You are a convincing speaker, but are not especially
receptive to the ideas and opinions of others. You have a forceful intellect and
an aptitude for mental work.
You are an original thinker, capable of unique discoveries and innovations, but
you tend to scatter your energies in too many directions at once and to make
impulsive or hasty decisions. You grasp ideas very quickly and become impatient
with duller or more conservative minds. A fast-moving, mentally stimulating, and
unpredictable atmosphere suits you quite well, even though you may complain
about the stress and the crazy pace. You have a technical bent and are
interested in the newest scientific theories and findings, electronics,
computers, etc.
Even though you can be a decisive and convincing speaker (as indicated earlier),
you also have a highly imaginative and intuitive mind. With this combination,
there are a number of possibilities: you could accurately articulate the images
and fantasies you have, you could forcefully convince others of your own brand
of idealism (or illusion!), or perhaps you swing from being very clear and
direct to being rather evasive or poetic. The following describes the more
fluid, nonrational aspect of your thinking.
Your mind is intuitive, imaginative, colorful, and strongly influenced by
imagery or fantasy. You see the world with the eyes of an artist or a poet, and
the hard sciences and fields of endeavor based on concrete facts, rules or
rigorous logic are not your forte. At times you are able to perceive things that
other people do not, the "aura" of a place or a person for instance, while at
the same time you apparently do not see and/or overlook things that are
glaringly obvious to others. One problem you are prone to is you project your
fantasies, wishes, and dreams on to other people or an outside situation, and
simply do not see what is actually there.
Your mind is deep and penetrating and you are interested in anything secret,
mysterious, or hidden, including the deeper aspects of the human psyche. You
possess an aptitude for private investigation, psychology and research work. You
are also drawn to esoteric or occult studies.
You want to be yourself and you have a need to assert your individuality. Acting
independently, you want to do things immediately. There is a nervous energy
about you that could lead to accidents, if you neglect to be careful.

Chapter 5: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
Emotional outbursts are frequent with you due to your fiery temper and emotional
impulsiveness. You express yourself very directly and honestly and no one has to
guess what your true feelings are. However, you dislike showing any personal
weaknesses or needs for support, comfort, and nurturing. You are often impatient
with yourself and with others. You abhor emotional dependency and dislike
"complainers".
You inspire others to take positive action in their lives by your own enthusiasm
and eagerness to meet life's challenges, and are attracted to people who are
adventurous, courageous, and independent. You are rather bossy, but you do not
like to be with people that you can boss around too much. You enjoy a good fight
sometimes. Relationships built upon mutual respect and a good deal of emotional
freedom are ideal for you.
You become very cross if you do not have enough vigorous physical activity. You
will feel your best if you "do battle" on the tennis or racquetball court (or
engage in some other competitive sport) frequently.
You often make decisions solely for emotional or personal reasons, because
something "feels right" or because you've always done it a certain way and you
are uncomfortable changing it. Even when you think you're being rational, your
prejudices, intuitions, and feelings influence your thoughts a great deal. You
are comfortable talking about feelings and personal subjects, and sharing
confidences, which enables others to express their own inner feelings with you
as well. You have good psychological insight into others.
You are temperamental and impatient and can be very difficult to live with. You
tend to respond with a temper tantrum (overt or subtle) if your desires are
frustrated. You become very irritable and bad-tempered if you do not have enough
vigorous physical activities or other outlets for your aggressive, feisty
spirit.
Although you are impetuous and easily provoked (as mentioned above), you also
have a good-natured, live-and-let-live attitude and a sense of humor, which
balances that. While hotheaded at times, you are usually a good sport.
You are easygoing, agreeable, and tolerant, willing to overlook others'
mistakes, forget the past, and begin again on a positive note. You enjoy making
others comfortable and happy, and sometimes overdo your generosity. You often
feel that "everything will turn out all right no matter what I do", and so
become lazy and lackadaisical.
You crave excitement, change, and discovery, and cannot tolerate a routine or
lifestyle that offers little in the way of surprise or challenge. Excitable,
spontaneous, and enthusiastic about anything new, you may be perceived by others
as being too impulsive, especially in personal relationships. It is not easy for
you to make or keep commitments, since you don't know how you will be feeling
from one day to the next. Emotional freedom is very important to you. Your
domestic life can be very unstable -but you like it that way.
You enjoy emotional intensity and are attracted to the mysterious, the unknown,
and to dangerous or challenging experiences which draw on all of your inner
resources. You are able to handle an emotional crisis very well, and you are
interested in the deep roots of emotional problems and how to cure them. You
insist on bringing feelings between people out into the open, for you want real
closeness and intimacy with others, without barriers or secrets.
You are warm and affectionate in your relations with others and have the ability
to see the other's point of view, which is greatly appreciated by those around
you. You are emotionally well balanced and also have a well developed
intellectual grasp.
In love, you are more interested in a person's sense of humor and intelligence
than in their physique. You like a partner who is mentally alive and who keeps
you guessing a little bit, and you become restless and bored with someone who
never asks questions, never changes or surprises you. Talking, sharing ideas,
going places together, and learning new things together is very important to
your happiness. You need lots of social stimulation, are something of a flirt,
and like to have many friends of both sexes. A possessive, jealous partner is
very stifling for you.
A warm, loving, and comfortable home is very important to you and you invest a
lot of your energy into beautifying, decorating, and creating a lovely home.
Also, you share your affection with the people in your family very generously
and having close family ties is a major priority for you. Being at home makes
you happy.
You try to understand others completely and have the ability to feel their joy
with them and also to suffer with them. When you love someone, you love with
your whole heart and are inclined to reveal your most inner and private
feelings.

Chapter 6: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
You are serious about your ambitions, and disciplined, dedicated, and tenacious
in pursuing your objectives. Your drive and energy are directed toward practical
material accomplishment and achieving concrete results. You also strive to be in
a position of authority and social influence; you enjoy being the person who is
in command.
You are hard-working and capable of foregoing immediate comfort in order to
achieve your long-range goals. You can easily become a workaholic and are very
responsible and conscientious about doing a thorough job.
Realistic and pragmatic, you are an excellent strategist. You attain success by
formulating a conservative and workable plan and following through with it. You
are not a gambler when it comes to attaining your goals; you depend on your own
efforts and perseverance rather than good fortune. You have a natural shrewdness
and instinct for business or organizational management.
Asserting yourself and being direct and forceful about what you want is very
often difficult for you. Though you may have a great deal of energy and drive,
you lack confidence or simply the desire to put yourself and your interests
first. Positively you can be very unselfish, working more on behalf of others
rather than for yourself.
You deny your own desires and needs too much, however, and you are likely to
secretly become very angry, which will sabotage your finest efforts.
You seek out risky and even dangerous activities, primarily for the excitement
they provide. Impulsive, daring, impatient, and unconventional, you cannot sit
still for very long and you have no capacity for "doing things as they have
always been done". You are a defiant and independent person who can go it alone
if need be. You can be extremely bossy and pushy and are prone to sudden,
erratic outbursts, especially when you have to wait for what you want. Courage
and a taste for the unorthodox or outrageous are your strengths.
While you are often charged with energy and inspired about what you want to do
(as mentioned earlier), there is a dreamy, visionary, or passive side to you as
well. Your energy level may fluctuate from being superabundant to rather lax.
Ordinary life often seems drab and uninteresting to you and you must have
something that stirs your imagination, some vision or ideal or dream to motivate
you. You have a strong urge to act out your fantasies or to live your dream, and
you will DO things that others only talk about or dream about. Artistic
creation, drama, or other areas in which you can express yourself imaginatively
are excellent for you.
Work that serves only your own narrow personal interests does not satisfy you.
You may lack the competitive edge, the fighting spirit, the me-first attitude
that is often required for material advancement and success. You also tend to
either overestimate or underestimate your own power and abilities.
You are intensely willful and can create trouble for yourself by rather
unconsciously forging ahead, without realizing you are trampling over people.
Sometimes, if you cannot get what you want directly, you'll try to dominate,
manipulate, or seek power in a covert, subtle sort of way.
You are hyper-sensitive and your energy could be somewhat low. You seem to shy
away from any physical effort and have a tendency to dream of big
accomplishments that never materialize. You prefer to live in a world of
illusion rather than face reality.
Your imagination is great and you tend to think with a purpose in mind. You are
able to function despite a degree of uncertainty that colors your actions, and
you are likely to have an alternate plan when matters don't progress the way you
want them to.
You have a talent and ability for putting fresh ideas and inspiration into
practice. You are ready and willing to utilize new ideas and methods, and you
have a knack for gaining acceptance for a new idea and practically implementing
it.
Your role in life is apt to be one of great responsibility and you take your
tasks very seriously. A certain heaviness weighs on you because of this. You may
have been unusually ambitious or mature at a tender age. You advance and attain
your aspirations through dedication and perseverance, rather than fortune.
Your desire for a beautiful home, a comfortable, pleasing lifestyle, and time to
relax and enjoy yourself may well be the motivation for going out into the world
and trying to achieve outward success. You may seesaw at times between your
professional drives and desire for status, and the appeal of a rich personal
life and home comforts.

Chapter 7: Growth and Expansion: Areas That You Enjoy
You cannot tolerate smallness or pettiness in any form, and you have a tendency
to exaggerate. Also, you have a wonderful sense of drama! You must live boldly
and heroically. Otherwise you feel you are simply existing and wasting your
talents.
The desire for personal recognition - or even Fame - and a need to do something
you feel really proud of, motivate you strongly. You have an unusual capacity
for fun and playfulness also.
You are a very sociable person, and you need to reach out and communicate with
many different people. You are interested in what others can teach you and are
drawn to those with more knowledge or breadth of experience than yourself. You
expect a high level of integrity and sincerity from others and you do not
tolerate pettiness or hypocrisy in your close friends or marriage partner.
You also need freedom and want a partner who will support your need to keep
learning and growing, who will not limit you or set too many boundaries. Your
marriage is likely to be very satisfying and rich.
You aim high and strive to position yourself in a manner that will ensure
success. You are not above joining organizations or rubbing elbows with others
primarily for the opportunities and social status that they confer on you. You
abhor pettiness and your broad perspective and vision incline you to an
influential and successful position in life.

Chapter 8: Areas That Challenge You Or Are Difficult For You
You have a critical, cynical attitude towards many religions and philosophies.
Without realizing it, you prevent yourself from appreciating new viewpoints and
attitudes. You are more rigid and dogmatic than you realize. Your approach may
also be too intellectual or moralistic. You take your own political beliefs and
spiritual philosophy very seriously, worrying and fretting if you are not 100%
clear about some ideology or theory.
You are very conscientious, responsible, and concerned with your duty, your
public image and reputation, and becoming a person of stature in the world. You
understand the need for hard work and careful planning in order to accomplish
anything substantial and you're capable of much self-discipline and patience
once you set your sights on a goal.
But you are very judgmental and hard on yourself if you fail to attain success,
and you can become dry, bitter, or cynical if the world doesn't recognize your
efforts.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which you instinctively and habitually
revert to when under stress - a mostly unconscious process and one which you are
apt to overdo because it is so familiar and thus easy for you. The direction you
need to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is
also described.
It is easy for you to become distracted from your purpose by the multitude of
interesting choices, possibilities, and options available to you. You need to
develop single mindedness and focus. Until you direct your attention to some of
the big questions, such as "What is my life's purpose?" "What is really
important to me and essential to my happiness?", you are apt to dabble, to
scatter your energies in many directions engaging in activities which are
entertaining but which are ultimately not fruitful or nourishing.
Having an overall vision for your life and aligning your daily activities so
that they support rather than detract from your larger purpose, is a significant
step in your unfoldment.
The arena you are most likely to wrestle with these issues is in your public
life and career. All of these issues will impact your reputation and standing in
your community or professional circle, as well as how you achieve your important
life goals and aspirations.
The specific habits which are likely to hold you back, or which you are prone to
overdo, especially during stressful periods, include:
Being self-indulgent, relying on the generosity or affection of others too much,
laziness, making personal love relationships and social life more important than
anything else in your life, pursuing superficial pleasures.
The following are specific activities that will support you in your growth.
These may or may not feel natural to you, and often there is some feeling of
resistance or initial awkwardness about doing these things, but they are
important on your path to wholeness.
Develop self-discipline and learn to handle responsibility. You may shoulder an
inordinate amount of responsibility and burdens which at times limit your
activities and opportunities in life. This is a maturing and ultimately
strengthening process, however. You are also likely to be given positions of
tremendous responsibility, whether you really want such job or not, usually
because you have made real effort and some sort of substantial contribution.
There may be considerable obstacles in your path - more adversity than others
seem to face - and your task is to learn to understand pressure and persevere.
You are somewhat restless and nervous, but enjoy communicating with people and
are constantly confronting others with your new ideas. You have the ability to
make new contacts quickly and also can be a stimulating force in group
activities.

Chapter 9: Originality and Imagination
Areas Where You Are Creative, Unique, Unstable, or Compulsive
Your work habits may be unstructured and you may find it difficult to settle
down to a routine task or work situation.
You are interested in new technologies or unusual, even revolutionary methods of
solving problems in your work. Nontraditional methods of healing and medicine
also fascinate you. You may work in an alternative health field or work for
change and reform in whatever field you choose.
You love to dream, fantasize, and speculate. You are willing to entertain the
most far fetched ideas and philosophies, since to you anything is possible.
Anything exotic, alien, or faraway holds a great attraction for you. You can
have very otherworldly beliefs which are quite impractical and irrelevant to
your everyday existence.
Emotional intensity, compulsive attraction, and a sense of fate or destiny
characterize your one-to-one relationships. It's as if you simply cannot have
light, superficial relationships; they are inevitably profound, intense
experiences which reveal your depths to you. You may be drawn to powerful,
charismatic, willful people that challenge, thwart, and ultimately evoke your
own power and strengths. Your marriage is likely to be the arena for your
greatest growth.
You are very imaginative and inclined to spend a lot of time fantasizing.
Although you have an intuitive awareness of things around you, at times your
feelings could suddenly mislead you. Quite often you may act on ideas that come
to you suddenly.
Your mind tends to wander and you have to beware of accidents caused by your
absent-mindedness. Acting on spontaneous ideas, you could easily become involved
in projects that are misrepresented or dishonest, leaving yourself open for
others to question your intentions.

Chapter 10: Generational Influences: Your Age Group
In this chapter we will discuss characteristics and traits of your generation.
Of course, you may not share all of the characteristics of your generation, but
you are greatly affected by the tone that is set by your generation.
The first topic is "The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group". In
this section we will describe a deeply felt urge, even compulsion, of your age
group. This deeply felt drive comes to the surface with great force and power,
and consequently leaves in its wake considerable upheaval and change. The second
topic is "The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group", that describes the
dreams, fantasies, and spiritual aspirations of your age group. The third and
last topic is "What is New and Different in Your Age Group", which describes
areas in which your age group tends to be innovative, inventive, unusual, and
also where it may be unstable and unreliable.
The characteristics described below may affect a group of people for anywhere
from a few years to about 30 years. There are one or more different astrological
factors described in each of the three sections below.
The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group
You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the "ME"
generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. You
are a generation that is very concerned with self-development and personal
integrity. Women's rights and minority rights are issues that your generation
has fostered and they reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity,
and honor. Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal
right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong
egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more
important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has
the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into
the military is one example of your age group's strong sense of individual
rights and freedom.
Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed
a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights.
However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder
how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to
contribute to your families!
The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination
with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation,
of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to
needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to
serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is
the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.
The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group
You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic sense of
brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other things, fostered the
peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also interested in the spiritual
philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its
approach to religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your
age group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing elements
from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it
difficult to follow traditionally defined religious practices.
A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental inclines your
age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of the well-intended
ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.
You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and is
characterized by an unusually high degree of imagination and sensitivity. You
are part of a group of people who are very inspired but also unstable. The
bizarre and unusual are standard fare among your age group. Your generation also
inspires intense political movements that are often fanatical or unreasonable in
their goals.
The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for
spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or
precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a
natural propensity to seek the depths.
What is New and Different in Your Age Group
You are part of a 7 year group of people who have a strong need to feel
unrestrained by family ties and personal heritage. Your age group tends to find
personal relationships very restrictive, and also tends to feel alienated and
distant from family ties and concerns. Forming long-term personal relationships
is difficult for your age group, and divorce rates are high in your group.
However, you are an emotional and sensitive group also, and this instability is
painful at times. Finding personal freedom and closeness with others at the same
time is a big challenge for you.
