You will find that the interpretation of your chart is written in simple
language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to
contradict another statement, then you exhibit these opposite qualities at
different times in your life. For example, a statement that you are highly
sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly
contradict each other; this means that you vacillate, and need both sociability
and solitude at different times.
The astrological factor that the interpretation is based on is also given. The
astrological factor is given for the benefit of astrologers and students of
astrology. If you are not a student of astrology, then obviously the factor will
not be meaningful to you, and you can ignore it.
If you find this interpretation of your birth chart interesting and informative,
you might want to discuss your birth chart with a professional astrologer to
learn more about the astrological influences on your life.

Chapter 1: General Characteristics
Your fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by
the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique balance of
these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth
(practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual
qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).
Your "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that most people are
"unbalanced" or lopsided, and if you are lacking or deficient in a certain
element (or elements), it simply means that you need to consciously develop that
aspect of yourself to learn to appreciate and/or to work harder in that
dimension of life.
Sometimes we overvalue the element that we are least endowed with, sensing it as
a lack within ourselves, but more often we neglect or ignore it. The qualities
described below will be reiterated and explained in more detail in the following
chapters.
Your life is apt to be full of emotional extremes, turbulence, joy and sorrow,
arising out of your own passionate nature and unpredictability. You are
impulsive and temperamental. For you, everything is intensely personal and
colored by emotion. You may have difficulty viewing a situation from a detached,
impartial or rational perspective, and you have little inclination to structure
and order your life. However, developing self-discipline, organization, and
focus is essential. Otherwise you will be prone to tremendous moodiness,
alternating between high inspiration and despondency.
At times you feel much internal pressure, for you have two strong impulses which
can be in conflict with one another. The desire for independence and freedom,
the need for self expression and ego recognition, and an urge to leave the past
behind in order to propel yourself into new experiences may be at odds with
other, equally strong needs: attachments to people and to the familiar, a
compelling urge for emotional closeness and union, and a desire for security.
Balancing these two drives is a significant challenge for you.
Even though your life is less even and perhaps less stable than others', most
likely you would not change it, for you are very alive, sensitive, and
responsive to the ever-changing, dynamic quality of life.
One of your primary challenges involves developing a stable sense of security,
solidness, and a steady rhythm in your life. Cultivating self-discipline,
patience and endurance, and learning to accept realistic limitations will enable
you to be more productive and to actualize some of the ideas and creative
impulses you have. You are not always interested in practical applications, the
actual work involved in realizing a desire or compromises for the sake of
practicalities.
You feel out of place in the world at times, restless, discontent, unable to
find your niche, dissatisfied with mundane reality. Positively this may spark
your exploration of the creative, imaginative, or spiritual side of life.
However, you tend to resist growing up and learning how to effectively deal with
adult responsibility. You also tend to be either bound up with the past or
projecting into the future, ignoring the present moment - what actually is. To
become more present and grounded, you may find the following helpful: getting
massages on a regular basis, doing gentle regular, rhythmic exercise like
walking or yoga, and eating substantial, heavy foods.
As you will read in the following chapter, you appear reasonable, rational, and
fair. You dislike showing how emotional, temperamental, and easily affected you
are. Your communication abilities help you effectively handle your strong
emotions and inspirations.

Chapter 2: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
The following is a description of your basic stance towards life, the way others
see you, the way you come across, the face you show to the world. In Chapter 3
you will read about the "The Inner You: Your Real Motivation", which describes
the kind of person you are at heart and where your true priorities lie. Read
this chapter and the next one and compare them - there may be significant
differences between them, in which case "the inner you" may not shine through
and others are in for some surprises when they get to know you at a more than
superficial level. This chapter describes the costume you wear, your role in
life, while Chapter 3 talks about the real person inside the costume.
Forward-looking and progressive, you are a person who supports change,
innovation, and human advancement, and you are often strongly committed to a
humanitarian cause or social improvement. You are extremely aware of the
interconnection and interdependence of all people, and are always relating
personal issues to some larger framework. You see the political or social
ramifications of personal actions, and you wish to contribute something of value
to the world, or at least to your community or group.
The ideals of equality, fairness, human rights, brotherhood, social justice,
etc. color your whole outlook and approach to life. You are truly interested in
the good of the whole and not only your own personal well-being.
Sometimes you may overlook or ignore your own and others' personal needs,
desires, and feelings, especially if they do not conform to your ideals of how
one SHOULD feel or act. Though you have little patience for conservative
narrow-mindedness, you yourself are sometimes dogmatic about your beliefs and
ideologies.
You are attracted to the avant-garde, the latest advances in human thought and
development, and you are eclectic and cosmopolitan in your tastes. You may
consider yourself a "global citizen" rather than claiming a narrow, limited
identification based on nationality, race, familial heritage, etc. You are
strongly influenced by your peer group and the flavor of the times in which you
grew up, more so than by parental or family influences. You are involved and
active in groups, community efforts, cultural and progressive movements.
On a personal level, you are friendly and express a kind of impersonal good will
towards others. You probably have many acquaintances but few really close
friends, and much of your closeness with others is based on a sharing of common
ideals and principles, rather than on emotional ties. Others see you as a good
friend and comrade, who is objective, fair, and rather detached emotionally. You
do not often show your emotions, and may be unsure how to respond to others'
emotional expression, for you tend to be very rational.
You are also very independent and refuse to be possessed by any individual. You
are not comfortable with traditional sexual roles and are inclined to have
"liberated" views about marriage, relationships, sharing of child rearing
responsibilities, etc. You need to have a life outside of the personal, domestic
sphere and to be involved with people on a broader scale. The nurturing of
family ties, and close, deep, personal sharing may take a back seat to your work
or outside social activities.
You may come across a bit scattered, nervous, or restless, as if you can't sit
still. You seem alert and quick, but sometimes a bit on edge. You tend to stay
perpetually busy, and would find handiwork of some kind to be soothing.
You project a feeling of broad-mindedness, generosity, and beneficence, a sense
that you're someone others should listen to and treat with respect. Because you
generally make such a favorable impression on people, many doors are open to
you, and it may seem that you are somehow luckier than other people. Mostly this
is due to the confidence you emanate.
You tend to be somewhat inhibited and may feel uncomfortable when you are with
other people. Try to avoid unpleasant, untruthful or deceptive individuals in
order to prevent misunderstandings or disappointments.

Chapter 3: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Behind your seemingly rational, detached, cool, and objective manner (as
described in the previous chapter), you are really far more passionate and
emotionally intense, as described below.
Quiet, deep, emotionally complex and intensely private, you are not a person who
is easy to get to know and understand. You are extremely sensitive but
disinclined to show it, and you allow only a special few into your inner world.
Like a wary animal, you are cautious and mistrustful of those you do not know
until you "sniff them out". You are very, very instinctive and intuitive. You
usually have a strong, immediate gut reaction to people, even though you may be
unable to clearly articulate why you feel as you do. Your feelings and
perceptions go deeper than words.
You also have a powerful need for deep emotional involvement and you form very
intense love bonds and attachments. You are possessive and often jealous of
anyone or anything that you perceive as a threat to your bond with someone you
love. When you commit yourself to someone or something, you are wholeheartedly
devoted and expect complete loyalty in return. You merge with or "marry" the
person you love at a very deep level and therefore separations are extremely
painful for you, and often stormy and nasty. When you have been wounded, you are
not inclined to turn the other cheek and will retaliate if at all possible.
Certainly you will never forget the injury and often you harbor grievances and
resentments for a long, long time. Forgiveness doesn't come easily to you.
Whatever you do, you do with passion and fervor, and you often go to extremes.
You are either hot or cold, never lukewarm about anything. You can also be very
narrow: either you are 100% involved in something or else it doesn't exist for
you at all. Rarely are you emotionally detached and objective. You definitely
have a fanatical streak. You are also immensely strong-willed and your tenacity
in pursuing your objectives often borders on being obsessive. Fierce pride,
courage, and emotional strength are yours in abundance.
You love mysteries and are deeply attracted to the hidden, dark, secret side of
life. You never take things at face value and are always probing beneath the
surface of people and situations to discover what is REALLY going on. You tend
to be more of a cynic than an idealist.
Your career, reputation, and public image are very important to you. You have a
strong desire to be influential or make your mark on the world. The merely
personal sphere does not satisfy you; your ambitions include making a major
contribution and receiving broad recognition for your unique effort and gifts.
You may undervalue the personal or inner side of life.
You are direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. You often feel
that you need to fight to get what you want and you tend to have a "me-first"
attitude that angers or irritates others. You are hasty, restless, impatient,
and sometimes reckless.
While you do have a lot of drive, you frequently hold yourself back. Learning to
endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in your life (or your
own internal caution and resistance!) is one of your tasks.
Feelings of personal inadequacy, inhibitions, and self-doubt often plague you.
You have a cautious, careful, realistic attitude toward life and are highly
responsible and disciplined with regard to your obligations and duties. You tend
to work and struggle more than you need to, and to take yourself too seriously.
Although you take yourself and your responsibilities seriously, there is also a
part of you that rebels against rules and restrictions and answering to outside
authority. You can feel torn between conforming or fulfilling your obligations,
and breaking free of them. Your wilder side will now be described.
At times you may feel an uncontrollable urge to radically alter your direction
in life, or to act in ways that seem eccentric or at least highly
uncharacteristic of you. When your life is becoming too predictable, you may do
something to upset the status quo, sometimes without realizing why or how you
are doing this. These impulses may seem at odds with your conscious intent and
desires for yourself, and can be unsettling. However, there is a streak of
unconventionality and creative genius in you which needs to be expressed now and
then.
You always seem to find the right words to verbalize your feelings, especially
in regard to love and friendship. You also have a keen sense of beauty and
probably appreciate art, music or poetry.

Chapter 4: Mental Interests and Abilities
You have good mental concentration and the ability to become completely immersed
in your work. You seem to know things at an instinctive, nonverbal level and
prefer learning through direct experience or apprenticeship rather than
vicariously via books or lectures. You have mechanical ability and work well
with your hands. You could become adept at sculpture, pottery, carpentry,
stained glass, or anything that involves doing and making things manually.
Biology (and related fields such as medicine) interests you as well. You also
have an instinctive rapport with animals, and may feel you relate better to them
than to people! You tend to become narrowly focused upon your own specialized
interests and may not have much to say or communicate outside that field.
You have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and wisdom and for an ever
broadening understanding of life. You are the perpetual student and will be
involved in higher education, philosophy, or religion. Law, broadcasting,
publishing, or the field of communications are also areas that interest you.
World travel and studying other cultures are also strong urges of yours.

Chapter 5: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
Open and generous, you enjoy a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and you
thrive on sociability and fellowship. You are adventurous, playful,
freedom-loving, and always ready for a good time. You rarely allow obstacles or
difficulties to keep you down, for no matter how bleak the past or present, you
always expect a better, brighter future. In fact, you are uncomfortable with
your own or other people's problems and emotional pain. You often try to "cheer
up" or offer philosophical advice to those who are hurting, but unwittingly you
avoid or ignore the emotions involved.
Friendship means a great deal to you, perhaps even more than love or romance.
For you to be happy, your mate must be your best friend and encourage your
aspirations and ideals. You also need a great deal of emotional freedom and
mobility.
You get a lot of emotional fulfillment through your involvement in groups,
clubs, organizations, community activities, or a network of close friends who
support and care for you. You make friends your family, and feel a close kinship
with people who share some ideals or beliefs that you hold dear. You need people
outside of your physical family to relate to and belong to.
You are assertive and confront difficulties in a direct, no-nonsense sort of
way. You cannot tolerate self-pity or passivity, and you can be rather brusque
with others' emotional problems. "Stop crying and DO something about it" might
be your motto.
Although you get hot under the collar rather easily (as mentioned above), you
also have a certain degree of emotional self-control and composure which enables
you to rein in some of your more aggressive tendencies. This side of you is
described below.
You have an inner poise and balance that enables you to act in a cool, efficient
manner during emotional traumas and stress. You keep perspective and objectivity
about highly charged emotional issues - sometimes to the chagrin of others who
might wish that you would react more intensely. You are quietly supportive and
faithful to your friends and loved ones.
In addition to your rather introverted, serious, or self-contained side, you
have a wild streak and urge for emotional freedom that breaks through
erratically. You crave both stability and excitement, and the conflict between
these two impulses can make you rather tense and irritable. However, they can
also balance one another. Your more free and unpredictable side will now be
described.
Your childhood and early home life was in many ways unsettling and the nurturing
you received was erratic and unreliable at best. You have had to move a lot, or
your family may have had some conspicuous differences from other people so that
you were often an outsider or "weirdo". As an adult you may long for "normalcy"
while at the same time you balk at any routine, structure, formality, or
restrictions.
When emotionally stressed at all, you often become nervous or shaky. Developing
a regular rhythm and a way of life that is steady and consistent (if not
traditional) would be beneficial to you, both emotionally and physically.
Your emotional needs are very important to you and you tend to seek approval and
recognition from the people in your immediate world. You will derive more
benefit in activities with others than by keeping to yourself.
Your are in harmony with yourself and the world around you and are guided by
your instincts. The motherly type, you would like to solve everyone's problems.
Very warm, sympathetic and cordial, you radiate harmony wherever you go.
In love, you seek companionship and friendship with someone who is fun-loving,
playful, and open to adventure and new experiences. You enjoy traveling
together, meeting new people, making new friends. Honeymooning in a distant
place appeals to you, and you are also attracted to foreigners or someone with a
totally different background than yourself. You support your partner in taking
risks and making positive changes, rather than preserving the status quo. You
also very much want a partner who will encourage your own aspirations and
dreams. It is very important to you that you have a spiritual or intellectual
rapport with your love partner, perhaps more important than the
emotional/physical relationship. You are not especially sentimental and your
love partner may feel that you are too casual and not serious or romantic
enough.
Promoting beauty, the arts, or entertainment can make you very happy. You want
to contribute something positive and loving to the world at large and you want
to be recognized for your beauty, artistic gifts, or loving generosity. You may
"marry" your work - that is, be more involved in your career than in your
private life. You are a natural hostess or diplomat.
You are big-hearted and openhanded with both your money and your affections and
you are not happy if you have to budget or restrict yourself in any way.
Pettiness or stinginess is foreign to your nature and you feel most comfortable
in an elegant, beautiful atmosphere. Asceticism is not for you. Gracious and
charitable, you enjoy sponsoring social events or cultural activities. You have
an optimistic, friendly attitude towards others and tend to bring out the finer
side of people. You fall in love with someone who is successful, noble, and
idealistic.
You have a rich, colorful, dreamy imagination and a refined sense of beauty.
Involvement in the arts, or with artistic, sensitive, or spiritually inclined
people is very satisfying to you. In your friendships and romantic
relationships, you tend to be unselfish, giving, and forgiving. You might enjoy
joining with others for charitable events or social service.
You love deeply, passionately, and wholeheartedly, and others may find your
intensity either extremely attractive or threatening. You are charismatic and
can have a powerful emotional influence on others, especially those of the
opposite sex. You may use your attractiveness to manipulate others, sometimes
without even realizing it.

Chapter 6: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
You are proud and ambitious, and you strive to excel, to stand out and be
recognized for who and what you are. You have a very strong ego drive and like
to be Number One. You find it difficult to take orders from others or to stay in
the background, and you hate being wrong; you always insist that you are right!
You are forceful, strong, energetic, determined, and highly competitive. You
play hard, you play to win, and you do not give up easily. In fact, you see life
as a competitive sport or performance. You love admiration and applause, and you
have a strong sense of personal honor and integrity. You tend to be very
self-confident, even arrogant. Because of your belief in yourself, you are able
to accomplish much, but if your confidence is ever undermined, you become
self-conscious, defensive, and rather belligerent.
You are attracted to feisty, dynamic, strong-willed people, and you seem to need
a lot of fireworks in your personal relationships. You can be very combative, or
get involved with people who are. Ideally you will join with people who are
energetic and ambitious, but not too domineering or aggressive.
You are very serious about reaching your goals and feel that keeping your nose
to the grindstone is the only way to do it. Hard work, persistent effort, and
concentration upon a single objective are the ways you achieve your aims in
life. You exercise great self-control, even self-denial, in order to accomplish
what you desire. You meet obstacles stoically and will struggle patiently
through difficult circumstances. You feel that you must rely on yourself alone,
that it's all on your shoulders, and you can be a harsh disciplinarian,
expecting far too much from yourself and others. Often you hold yourself back,
doubting your own power and ability. You may feel that you meet great resistance
whenever you try to assert yourself or take initiative, and that is very
frustrating to you. However, you have the power of endurance and a dogged
determination to overcome all obstacles.
Although you are patient and steady when pursuing an objective, when you finally
lose patience you lose it completely! In addition to having great tenacity and
perseverance, you have a daring and rebellious side as well:
You enjoy risky, exciting activities and cannot tolerate too much routine,
tedium, or inactivity. Unless other factors in your chart suggest staying power
and the ability to follow through, you may be the person who initiates a new
venture but who cannot happily participate in the ongoing, sustained effort it
requires. "Independent" is your middle name! You need to be a totally free
agent, to run your own show. You like to introduce new concepts to people, and
then move on.
You have a strong desire for public attention and the need to be important. You
want to be recognized for your efforts and want to be in a leading role. You are
willing to cooperate and enjoy team work as the leader of a group.
You have a good team-spirit and intensely work together with your colleagues.
You may join an organization or association that fights for upholding common
issues and principles. You are likely to accomplish more as a team.
In meeting your challenges and difficulties in life, you do have allies: your
ability to tolerate tension and ambivalence, your ability to compromise, and a
capacity to endure discomfort. Remaining steady in the midst of crisis or sudden
change is an aspect of this, as well as knowing when to wait and when to make
necessary changes. Your timing is usually good.
Positions of honor, affluence, influence, and stature in your community can be
yours. You feel you have a destiny which involves leadership or distinguishing
yourself in some line of endeavor. You possess an innate sense of greatness or
importance, and a strong drive to achieve recognition for your talent. Avoid
excessive egotism and arrogant pride, for these could limit your opportunities.
You are intensely competitive, and may engage in furious battles of will,
numerous conflicts, and possible public controversy, on your way to gaining your
objectives. You could be drawn to activities that are dangerous, in the line of
fire, so to speak. You put yourself on the line. Anger or recklessness could be
your downfall.
You persevere through numerous obstacles, frustrations, delays, and setbacks in
order to attain your ambitions in life. Sometimes it may feel as if you're
pushing a boulder uphill. Try to avoid bitterness or comparing your lot to
others', as these could weaken your resolve.
You have a sense of beauty and a good understanding of art. You enjoy beautiful
things and have the ability to put your feelings into words. There is a
light-hearted way about you, and you have a tendency to emulate the momentary
ideals of beauty.

Chapter 7: Growth and Expansion: Areas That You Enjoy
Your strength lies in your ability to see the whole, rather than only the parts
which compose it. You have a deep need to explore the world and to develop your
own philosophy of life and sense of personal meaning. You vacillate between
being open-minded and tolerant of differing views, and being dogmatic or overly
zealous about your own viewpoint.
Your career or contribution to the world at large is likely to touch many
people's lives in a very positive, helpful way. You aim high and have an innate
confidence and trust both in your own abilities and in life in general, which
enables you to go far. You want to do something BIG with your life, and you
attract the support you need to do so, for your aims are not solely for your own
personal benefit. You want to give something back to the world, or to improve
others' lives as well as your own.
Astrological influences analyzed in Chapter 7:

Chapter 8: Areas That Challenge You Or Are Difficult For You
You are very self-conscious and have a great need for ego-affirmation and
praise. Expressing yourself freely, openly, and unself-consciously is not easy
for you. You tend to work hard at playing and "having fun", rather than being
light-hearted and spontaneous. Developing self-love and self-acceptance
regardless of your "performance" is an important task for you.
You take your commitments to others very seriously, especially in close
one-to-one relationships. Your strong sense of responsibility to the other
person makes you a trustworthy and dedicated partner, but you often feel that
marriage or any binding commitment between yourself and another person is too
restrictive and burdensome, and thus seek to avoid it. Close relationships may
be more work than pleasure for you and it may seem that you are always "working
on" your marriage rather than enjoying it. You will persevere and ultimately
grow through the process, however.
Because of your inner reserve and basic shyness, you appear to lack adaptability
and are a bit inhibited in dealing with other people. Your approach is somewhat
serious and it is difficult for you to face the public.
You want to go your own way and tend to withdraw into yourself. You prefer to be
alone and tend to cut yourself off from other people. You could be a bit too
serious and conservative.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which you instinctively and habitually
revert to when under stress - a mostly unconscious process and one which you are
apt to overdo because it is so familiar and thus easy for you. The direction you
need to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is
also described.
You gain by becoming more aware of the rhythm of the seasons and the natural
world, learning to slow down and allow life to unfold in its own time. Nurturing
a garden, a child, or some other living, growing thing gives you a sense of
inner balance.
You have a tendency to be deeply suspicious, to not take anything at face value,
to see hidden agendas and dark motives even where none exist! Life does not have
to be conflict all the time... learn to accept things as they are.
You also need to develop patience, peace and stability by grounding yourself in
your daily work and acting in a consistent and reliable way towards others.
The arena you are most likely to wrestle with these issues is in trying to
strike a balance between your inner, personal life, and your career or
involvement with the world at large. Focusing attention on your home, family
situations, and creating a secure inner base is the direction you need to
follow.
The specific habits which are likely to hold you back, or which you are prone to
overdo, especially during stressful periods, include:
Being excessively egocentric or proud, needing personal recognition and
applause, wanting to be center stage all of the time, needing to be important
and special.
You tend to pick your friends and associates very carefully and are always on
the look-out for responsible and congenial people. This enables you to feel
secure with your colleagues and you enjoy good relations with them.
You are very social, love artistic events and entertainment, and have the
ability to show your feelings without reservation. You probably found joy in
learning things early in life and keep in close contact with your family and
other relations.

Chapter 9: Originality and Imagination
Areas Where You Are Creative, Unique, Unstable, or Compulsive
You are uninhibited and have an outrageous, crazy sense of humor. You love to
get loose and you're often impulsive or "wild". Even if you appear conventional,
you are attracted to highly eccentric, creative, or unusual companions. In
romance, you are happiest when there is an element of surprise,
unpredictability, and adventure. You may choose unstable love partners.
You have a very active imagination and powerful fantasies. You may develop an
interest in the supernatural, psychic phenomena, or occult subjects. You may
have strange fantasies and/or nebulous fears of "ghosts", "the astral plane", or
death. It's better for you not to dabble in such areas unless you are thoroughly
grounded in the practical world as well.
Emotional intensity, compulsive attraction, and a sense of fate or destiny
characterize your one-to-one relationships. It's as if you simply cannot have
light, superficial relationships; they are inevitably profound, intense
experiences which reveal your depths to you. You may be drawn to powerful,
charismatic, willful people that challenge, thwart, and ultimately evoke your
own power and strengths. Your marriage is likely to be the arena for your
greatest growth.
You are very impressionable and prone to seduction or deception in love. You
seem to vacillate between unfulfilled and repressed affection and could be
somewhat inconsistent in matters of love. You also have to guard against
extracurricular affairs.
You have a strong desire to be intellectually superior to everyone and your
words of wisdom are likely to be heard by many. Persuading or influencing others
is easy for you, but you also are inclined to be ruthless at times.

Chapter 10: Generational Influences: Your Age Group
In this chapter we will discuss characteristics and traits of your generation.
Of course, you may not share all of the characteristics of your generation, but
you are greatly affected by the tone that is set by your generation.
The first topic is "The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group". In
this section we will describe a deeply felt urge, even compulsion, of your age
group. This deeply felt drive comes to the surface with great force and power,
and consequently leaves in its wake considerable upheaval and change. The second
topic is "The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group", that describes the
dreams, fantasies, and spiritual aspirations of your age group. The third and
last topic is "What is New and Different in Your Age Group", which describes
areas in which your age group tends to be innovative, inventive, unusual, and
also where it may be unstable and unreliable.
The characteristics described below may affect a group of people for anywhere
from a few years to about 30 years. There are one or more different astrological
factors described in each of the three sections below.
The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group
You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the "ME"
generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. You
are a generation that is very concerned with self-development and personal
integrity. Women's rights and minority rights are issues that your generation
has fostered and they reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity,
and honor. Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal
right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong
egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more
important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has
the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into
the military is one example of your age group's strong sense of individual
rights and freedom.
Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed
a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights.
However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder
how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to
contribute to your families!
The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination
with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation,
of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to
needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to
serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is
the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.
The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group
You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic sense of
brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other things, fostered the
peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also interested in the spiritual
philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its
approach to religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your
age group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing elements
from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it
difficult to follow traditionally defined religious practices.
A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental inclines your
age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of the well-intended
ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.
The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for
spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or
precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a
natural propensity to seek the depths.
What is New and Different in Your Age Group
You are part of a 7 year group of people who are progressive and creative
thinkers. Academic achievement is high and academic standards are higher with
your age group than with others. You are a curious and inquisitive bunch, and
many discoveries and clever insights are brought forth from your age group. The
love of learning never dies with your age group, and your curiosity and
inquisitiveness does not wane in later life, as is common with others.
