Introduction
The report that you are about to read is a first step in decoding the symbolic
language of your birth chart. It explains the raw materials that you have been
given for building a life. It outlines how the overall shape of your chart
reflects the overall shape of your personality, what your greatest challenges
are likely to be, the strengths you have been given to meet these challenges,
and the main arenas you are given for playing out your life’s drama.
In this report you may notice certain places where the information seems to be contradictory. This is to be expected, because people are complex. For example, in some situations we are shy and in others, aggressive. When you see repeated patterns, though, take special note: these are apt to be the dominant themes in your life.

The
Main Emphasis in Your Chart
The general distribution of planets around you at your birth is one of the
things that shows the overall shape of your personality. Before taking a
closer look at the details, let’s stand back for a moment to see whether
your chart contains any obvious emphasis in a sign, group of signs, or other
division of the horoscope wheel.
Most planets are
in the eastern half of the chart.
You prefer to be in charge of your own destiny, rather than following someone
else's dreams, adventures, projects or proposals. This tends to make you an
outgoing, active person, in charge of your affairs. Independent and outwardly
directed, you are conscious of the direction in which you lead your life. An
entrepreneurial pursuit of some type will find you at your best. You need
followers to help you, so be sure that you attract those who are willing to
follow your vision. Be clear, however, as to who is in charge. Joining forces
with someone as strong-minded as you may cause the kind of stress that will
distract you from your goals. Make all possible allowances for practicality;
and then go ahead and pursue your vision.
Most planets are
above the horizon.
You tend to identify who you are with what you have accomplished in the world.
This may make you highly competitive in establishing yourself within a
definable lifestyle or career. Your trophy case or the diplomas on your wall
may be a source of great personal satisfaction. It is important to balance
your need for outer-world-accomplishments with care for your inner self. Also,
take great care not to lose sight of the needs of your loved ones.
There are many
planets in Fire signs.
With many planets in either Aries, Leo or Sagittarius, you are likely to be
one of the original self-starters. Passionate and full of strong feelings and
ideals, you do not need external stimuli to get you moving in new directions.
Drama is your mantra. Perceiving life as a game with high stakes, you are just
as passionate when you win as when you lose.
In many ways you act and feel as if the world revolves around you, and sometimes it does. You tend to dominate your sphere, and when you come across other Fire types you instantly like or dislike them with no feelings in-between.
You are devoted to your ideals and beliefs, and will play the game to the end, displaying your boundless enthusiasm no matter what the outcome. You despise static, unchanging and unyielding situations, and will put forth your best efforts to change them. With your courage, energy and dramatic flair, you can be an effective leader, and will be the first in line to explore uncharted regions.
Your tendency to act first and think later, however, may lead others to accuse you of insensitivity. Learn to be more aware of others’ feelings. Realize that your actions affect others’ lives in ways that you may not have considered. Remember to develop sensitivity and appraise situations intellectually before you act with your heart.
There are many
planets in Water signs.
With such a strong emphasis in signs like Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, you tend
to move forward in life guided primarily by your feelings. Living in a world
of emotion and change, you are extremely sensitive to “vibes.” When you
are overwhelmed with feelings, the reality of a situation is of little
consequence, and intellectual abstractions have no meaning for you. You may
misunderstand the passions of others, thinking that such outbursts are real
emotional expressions when these people may be just trying to get your
attention.
When you encounter negative emotional situations, it is best to get out immediately, because you tend to mirror whatever vibrations are occurring around you. Then you react unreasonably and create problems for yourself. When, instead, you are surrounded by emotionally healthy situations, you become emotionally healthy.
A motherly person, you can be extremely compassionate, empathetic and protective of those in need. This is because you sense things in an unthinking way. Learn to trust your emotions, intuitions, and psychic ability, because they are usually correct.
Do not, however, trust your fears. You probably have many, but they tend to be irrational and compulsive. Since you can become irrational when you carry your expression too far, learn to trust the middle way and not take things to the extreme.
Your great strength is your empathy with others. If you heed the unsaid influences in every situation, this talent will give you an edge in business, love and play.
There are many
planets in Cardinal signs.
Your strong emphasis in signs like Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn gives
you an ability to initiate things, whether they be actions, relationships or
projects. You do not care whether something has been done before: if it
interests you, you will attempt it. Though you tend to be sullen and unhappy
in the role of minion, you feel creative and fulfilled in positions of
leadership. Once projects are under way, however, you tend to lose interest.
It would be ideal to have someone to follow in your footsteps and complete the
details.
There is an
unusual number of planets in Aries.
You are the quintessential free spirit and the ultimate pioneer. Extremely
willful, you must be first at all costs — even at the cost of others’
approval or feelings. If you do not moderate this tendency, you may find
yourself alone. Nevertheless, your enthusiasm and zest for life are
infectious. Others will probably let you have your own way as long as you don’t
go overboard. You teem with new ventures that you’d like to begin, and may
have to discipline yourself to finish them.
Aspects:
Keys to Your Inner Drama
In your birth chart, the Sun, Moon and planets play the central role. They are
the actors in the drama, the moving figures on the stage, each with a
character of its own. How these characters relate to each other, whether and
how they clash or harmonize, whether they bring out each other’s best or
worst qualities, is shown by the aspects, or angles, between the planets.
Is the ongoing drama between two planets a continuing tension that periodically erupts into crises (conjunctions, oppositions and squares), a harmonious alliance where the two planets aid and abet each other (trines and sextiles), an uneasy truce full of ambiguities (certain other aspects in neither of these families), or simply indifference (no aspect at all)? Below you will see which pairs of planets are in aspect in your chart.
Each of the following sections lists the aspects in order of their general importance, with aspects involving the Sun, Moon and fast-moving planets coming first. You can get a further idea of their importance in your particular chart by going to the aspect table at the beginning of this report and finding the five or so aspects with the smallest number of degrees and minutes in the “The orb is” column.
Your
Major Challenges
We start with your conjunctions, oppositions and squares because these tend to
point out the challenges that you have been set in life. Mose people
experience these aspects as problems, at least at first. Armed with awareness,
however, you can come to view these so-called “ hard” aspects as the
blessings that they really are. These are the forces that spur you forward.
When you face the challenges that these aspects pose, you grow in strength,
confidence, wisdom and maturity.
Moon opposite
Saturn
It bothers you that your emotional responses are cooler and more detached than
those of your friends and associates. You do not wear your heart on your
sleeve, and it is incomprehensible and embarrassing to you when others carry
on about emotional attachments. At times your inability to get close to others
makes you feel ashamed and unworthy. You must try to stop judging yourself by
the standards of others. Your own standards are probably quite high and very
appropriate for you. It is best not go to out of your way to be what you are
not. You will then feel much more comfortable with yourself.
Moon conjunct
Neptune
You have an accentuated sensitivity to emotions and energies in your
environment. No matter how others may want to hide negative or discordant
energy patterns, you have the ability to discern such “vibes” in those
around you. Be careful when dealing with negative people. You may not have the
strength of will to avoid the adverse consequences of their energy patterns.
When you sense negativity, it can be advisable for you to retreat and just not
deal with it. You are very intuitive and maybe even quite psychic. Your
ability to empathize with those who are in pain can make you very effective in
the helping professions. To avoid burnout, however, you must allow yourself
ample time off to recharge and soak up positive vibes.
Mercury square
Jupiter
As a rule, you have the ability to think things through and make appropriate
decisions, especially if the problem relates to one of your wide-ranging
fields of interest. Sometimes, however, due to a lack of self- discipline,
your thinking becomes sloppy and clumsy, and the results show it. Also, your
exuberant nature can make you tactless and seemingly arrogant. When you are at
your best, people relate well and positively to you and your ideas, but when
you are at your worst, they pull back and become uncooperative. Watch how
others react to you, and judge your effectiveness accordingly.
Mercury opposite
Pluto
Your ability to understand concepts and people at the deepest levels of
motivation often causes you to overestimate your ability to convince others of
the appropriateness of your conclusions. Your tendency to use threatening
tactics that impinge upon your personal integrity causes others who disagree
with your views (or your tactics) to rise up and engage you in concerted
combat. In your desire for domination, power and control, is all this stress
really worth it? If not, try merely to convince, not overwhelm.
Venus square
Nodes
You have a great need for close, loving relationships. In some way or other,
you’ll be attracted to almost everyone you meet, and will attempt to form a
special bond with them. Your rather democratic approach to friendship and
lovemaking, however, may make people who want an exclusive relationship with
you quite nervous. Jealousy and bickering can result if you’re judged to be
unreliable, inconsistent or overly flirtatious. Your naivete can be your worst
enemy, giving you a reputation that you may find difficult to live with. Be
careful that your actions do not produce negative feelings in others.
Venus conjunct
Ascendant
You have such a charming, warm, engaging and sincere personality that others
immediately like you. Your popularity stems from your own need to socialize
— you like others as much as they like you. A strong sense of fairness and
appropriateness and decorum makes you the ideal peacemaker and diplomat. You
will go out of your way to make everything around you harmonious and tranquil.
Jupiter square
Pluto
You have such an enormous drive to be successful that you usually can marshal
the resources and energy necessary to get you where you want to go. But,
sometimes, you become so impatient to reach the goal that you lose all sense
of tact and diplomacy and you become intolerant of the wishes and desires of
others. When you try to bowl them over with less than ethical tactics, you
find that you meet more and more resistance as you proceed. This, of course,
is counterproductive. Learn to relax a little and others will not see you as
so much of a threat.
Jupiter conjunct
Midheaven
You have a strong drive to be successful and to make your mark in the world.
At times, this drive seems to be insatiable, and you gleefully keep adding to
your personal empire. You are saved by your high standards of conduct. If you
can maintain your sense of honor, your unblemished integrity and your
fair-mindedness, you are likely to receive many personal honors in your life
and will indeed be an asset to your community.
Saturn opposite
Neptune
On the one hand, you try to be mature, responsible and practical; yet on the
other, your inner vision shows you an ideal world that does not conform to the
world of consensus reality, and which indeed may be a better place. This
creates a continuing tension in your life. Your attempts to reconcile these
opposites often leave you depressed and anxious. You are afraid to follow your
innermost dreams, yet you feel that the everyday world may fail to support and
nourish you. To overcome this, you must exert the uttermost inner discipline,
striving to see the nobility of your everyday life while seeking the practical
solutions that will make your ideals real.
Uranus conjunct
Descendant
You are attracted to those who are unusual and independent. But if you expect
these people to be warm, close and reliable, you will be sorely disappointed.
In order for this sort of relationship to work successfully, you both must
allow each other total and complete freedom — let the other “keep their
sleeping bag tied up behind your couch.” Expect the unexpected because that
is all that can be counted on. This type of situation will never be dull and
boring, and it could be quite liberating.
Chiron opposite
Uranus
Due to separation from a parent or lack of communication in your earliest
environment, you have difficulty in sharing and opening up to others.
Creative, independent and yet high-strung, you will be successful so long as
you develop patience and refrain from being provocative. Asserting a contrary
opinion or taking an unpopular stance for the sake of rebellion can be as
disruptive and destructive as it can be creative and productive. As life goes
on, you will get the knack of being spontaneous without provoking others.
Chiron square
Midheaven
A probing mind and the need to question authority makes it difficult for you
to accept advice or listen to parents, teachers and employers. While your
stubborn streak can help you persevere, your headstrong nature may, at times,
work against you. Don’t rebel simply because of differences of opinion. Try
to make peace with those who can teach you to excel in whatever you do.
Your
Sustaining Strengths
Trines and sextiles tend to work with a natural harmony that calls for little
effort on your part. They show the things that you just seem naturally good
at. Usually they point to the more positive parts of your nature, and act as
support that you can call on in difficult times.
Because these aspects are so comfortable, they are not likely to push you to expand your limits or cause you to change. It is actually helpful to have a balance of hard aspects (like oppositions and squares) to stimulate you to grow, and soft aspects (trines and sextiles) to ease your passage and provide places to rest.
If you are blessed with a predominance of trines and sextiles, your life may tend to be placid and your nature serene. If so, remember that the world around you is probably sorely in need of these qualities that are yours to bestow.
Sun sextile Mars
Physically, you are full of vital energy and, for the most part, are quite
coordinated. As such, you need to get as much exercise as you can, feeling
more comfortable when you are moving around rather than when you are idle. You
are very competitive and love to have something or someone to push against.
Aggressive and courageous, you have excellent leadership credentials.
Sun sextile
Midheaven
You know who you are and where you want to go. This is a great gift, one that
relieves you of the anxiety that most people feel about their life direction.
Because you are able easily and quickly to make decisions to assist you in
reaching your goals, you will meet with success early on.
Moon trine
Mercury
You wear your heart on your sleeve. Others almost always know what you are
thinking and feeling — usually because you tell them as soon as the thought
occurs to you. You love to chatter on about whatever interests you at the
moment and are a good listener, too. You are sincere, open and good-natured,
which makes you a pleasure to be around. The only problem you have, and this
is a recurring one, is that you tend to be overly subjective — reacting to
situations too quickly and sometimes feeling embarrassed later on by what you
said and did. Don’t feel bad, though, because most people respect you for
your spontaneity — and you are easy to forgive.
Moon sextile
Pluto
Emotionally your life is deep, intense and complicated and you prefer it that
way. You despise casual relationships, demanding that your partners be as
totally involved with you as you are with them. You love to analyze your own
emotional reactions and motivations. As such, you often push things to the
breaking point in order to test yourself and your partner. As you learn more
about yourself, you become more content — for you, evolution and change is
what life is all about.
Mercury sextile
Saturn
You are slow and careful of speech, and tend to be conservative in the way you
do things. You prefer to work in a methodical, precise manner, and find it
hard to tolerate others who are sloppy, clumsy or lacking in self-discipline.
You can be trusted to design a project well and carry it through to its final
result. You are not, however, comfortable in fluid situations that demand
rapid decisions that can radically alter the course of events.
Mercury trine
Neptune
Your intuition can usually be trusted, and you have a gift for sensing things
of which others are unaware. This is a two-edged sword. When things are of a
positive nature, it is fun to “know” them in advance, but it can be
upsetting and even terrifying to be able to intuit negative things in the
present or future. To maintain your equilibrium, you must learn to remain
personally balanced and objective in the midst of your unique manner of
obtaining knowledge. You tend to be an idealist and a romantic. You may have
the creative ability to share your visions with others as either a writer or
an artist.
Mercury sextile
North Node
One of your more positive character traits is your sociability. You like
nothing better than to get together with friends for a long chat about mutual
interests. You need the give-and-take of sharing ideas with others. You work
and think much better in a group environment, and can become uncomfortable if
left to your own devices. You delight in joining groups that are sympathetic
to your interests. Your good humor and ready wit make you an ideal companion
or workmate, and this assures your popularity.
Venus trine
Jupiter
You are attracted to a life of comfort and luxury. If you are not blessed with
the means to support such a lifestyle, you may find yourself continually
waking up to the negative results of your innate profligacy — too many
bills, problems with overweight, etc. Attempts at self-control are of course
in order, but do not feel too badly if they are not always successful. You are
not by nature aggressive or cautious, but you have a charm and grace that
others find very attractive. Your refined aesthetic taste will allow you to be
productive in the arts if you are so inclined.
Mars trine
Midheaven
You are ambitious and are not afraid to admit it, which makes others respect
you greatly. They know that you will do whatever you have to do in order to
get ahead. You are a worthy competitor and a trusted ally in any cause. At
times, though, you may be too headstrong, tending to think that you are the
only one who is right. Learn a little tact. It might just allow you to get
where you want to go with a lot less resistance than you usually encounter.
Saturn trine
Pluto
Your staying power is prodigious. You have a tenacity that inspires the
respect and admiration of others. You have the uncanny ability to take on a
difficult project or situation and, eventually, make it come out in a positive
way. Your respect for both the old traditional ways of doing things and also
for the relevance of the new changes that are occurring allow you to make the
necessary compromises that cause controlled growth and evolution. Your ability
to make painful but important decisions sometimes gives you the reputation for
being heartless and cold.
Saturn trine
North Node
You seem to function best in social situations in which you can chum around
with just a small group of friends and acquaintances. You appreciate more
sedate and mature individuals and, once your friendship has been given, you’ll
be loyal for life. Although you’re not interested in broadening your social
sphere, you have the ability to make a major contribution to your neighborhood
or community if it’s in your best interest to do so. You won’t put out any
extra energy for extremely idealistic causes, but practical solutions to
tangible problems will goad you to immediate and effective community action.
Neptune sextile
Pluto
You, and society as a whole, are witnessing a gradual spiritual transformation
that affects everything that you encounter. A solid foundation for protecting
the rights of individuals (and especially the underprivileged) was being laid
in the era when you were born, so that those in the future will have an equal
opportunity to grow, evolve and gain greater understanding.
Neptune sextile
North Node
You are an excellent friend and companion, one who gives time and energy
freely, especially to those in need. You spend much of your time in charitable
and volunteer work, and are eager to help out, whether or not you know the
person or group. Idealistic by nature, you may find that being a member of a
religious organization or other high-minded group suits you. You have the
ability to sacrifice your own needs for the betterment of others. This is a
rare gift indeed. !
Pluto trine North
Node
You have a certain charisma that attracts other like-minded people to you.
This allows you to use their energy constructively to bring about the
sometimes quite radical changes that you feel need to happen. As long as you
keep your goals high-minded and don’t allow all of this power and influence
to go to your head, you’ll be able to accomplish most of your long-range
goals in your own lifetime. Those that you know will assist you in gaining the
ends that you seek.
Rounding
Out the Picture
Two other families of so-called “minor” aspects add yet more information
about the way the planets relate to each other in your chart. Semisquares and
sesquares (also known as sesquiquadrates) share the dynamic, crisis-prone
nature of the square but need to be quite exact in order to be felt.
Semisextiles and quincunxes connect signs that are totally unrelated to each other. They can have an odd, unsettling quality, indicating problems or issues that it’s hard to get a grip on. They are like interesting puzzles that call for a creative solution.
Sun semisquare
Venus
You are physically very attractive. Usually this a blessing, but at times it
causes you problems. There are times when you would rather not be noticed, but
this seems to be impossible and you appear to be your own worst enemy. This
may cause you to feel uncomfortable and angry and insecure, and you will find
it difficult to articulate your feelings because you are shy and soft-spoken
by nature. Be aware that this will be a continuing problem. Learn to use it to
your best advantage whenever possible and try to develop strategies so that
you can maintain your privacy and peace of mind.
Sun quincunx
Uranus
You seem to have a perverse need to upset things in your life just when they
are beginning to go smoothly. This annoys you terribly because there is a part
of you that needs structure and direction, and every time you think it is in
your grasp, you do something irrational and then have to try to pick up the
pieces and start again. You must learn consciously to build these two
contradictory sides of your nature into your life, because trying to deny
either just will not work. Allow part of your life to be zany and
free-flowing, perhaps by having hobbies or weekend pursuits, but have a stable
foundation for the rest of your life.
Moon semisquare
Midheaven
You tend to proceed toward your life goals only if there are emotional
considerations attached to them. You must feel that your sense of security and
peace of mind would be threatened if you do not motivate yourself to move
forward toward some sort of clearly realizable goal. As such, you tend to make
major life decisions that are not always rational and logical and that you
sometimes regret later on. But learn to trust your instincts as they are often
correct — the heart has its reasons, too.
Moon sesquare
Chiron
Sensitive and artistic, you are vulnerable to daily stress. When you lack
emotional nourishment, you may seek comfort in food, alcohol, drugs or sex.
You often attract those who need attention and care. A need to help others may
be a way of overcompensating for low self-esteem or an inability to find a
professional outlet. Your compassion lends itself to fields like medicine,
social work and physical therapy. In addition, you have a fascination with
subjects like history, architecture and anthropology.
Mercury
semisquare Mars
You are so aggressive and cantankerous when it comes to expressing your
personal viewpoints that others often feel that they are going into battle
with you when all they want to do is have a conversation. You are not always
aware that you tend to come on so strong, but you do, especially when it
concerns something you hold near and dear. Try to temper your enthusiasm a
bit, or you may develop a reputation as being a loud and obnoxious person.
Venus semisextile
Saturn
There is a continuing tension in your life that is all too apparent to you.
You desperately crave love and affection, but you are so tied to rigid ideas
about propriety, duty and respect that you can only rarely allow yourself to
be put in the position where you wish to share yourself with another. This
angers, frustrates and embitters you because you feel that there is nothing
that you can do about it. Learn to regard the dicta of society at large much
less seriously. Only a very few people really deal with life as harshly as you
think you should. Try to find relationships with those you admire and who
admire you, even if the level of emotional involvement is much lower than your
peers want to convince you that it should be, and you will be much more
comfortable with yourself.
Venus quincunx
Pluto
You have ambiguous feelings about relationships. On the one hand, you want the
security and warmth of knowing that your beloved cares for you as much as you
do for him or her. But, on the other hand, you are so distrustful of your
beloved (and yourself) that you are always interfering in his or her life to
the extent of trying to manipulate emotional responses, pushing your lover
from feelings of guilt to feelings of joy in an attempt to constantly stay in
his or her consciousness. You must learn to trust your lover more if you would
not experience the continuing remorse at watching yourself behave in such an
underhanded manner.
Mars quincunx
Uranus
Even though you are usually very aware of what you want in life, often, just
as you are about to reach the goal, you do something that sends you off in
another direction. This completely upsets your plans and bothers you greatly
— you seem to be your own worst enemy at such times. Your rashness and
impulsiveness and quickness to anger can brand you as undependable or
undesirable and cause you problems with authority figures. The solution to
this recurring personal pattern is one that will be very difficult for you to
deal with. You must learn to discipline yourself, to become more patient and
to accept more gracefully the limitations that society imposes on everyone.
The more that you can do this, the less frustrated you will be.
Mars sesquare
Pluto
Once you have set a goal, your will power can be totally mobilized to see that
you accomplish it. Your drive and ambition is so strong that you will tolerate
no opposition to getting where you want to go. Be very careful not to step on
too many toes on your way or you might unleash forces of resistance that
require you to take a defensive position — this will delay the completion of
your objectives. Try a little tact and diplomacy instead. Use your ability to
convince others of the reasonableness of your position, but be subtle, not
underhanded about it.
Jupiter
semisextile Neptune
You have the ability to make farseeing plans about your future development,
and, indeed, you spend a great deal of time plotting the successive stages of
your growth. But the problem comes when you try to implement these plans. You
are usually so out of touch with the gritty necessities of getting along in
the real world that you overlook such mundane things as how you would finance
your plans or how you will feed yourself. You see this happening and it
frustrates you. You must learn to somehow make an accommodation to the
requirements of living in the material world if you would pursue your plans
and schemes successfully.
Jupiter
semisextile North Node
You have the extreme good fortune to be usually well-connected in your
community. Those that you “know” are often of great assistance to you in
your personal and professional life. But at times you take all of this for
granted and become somewhat cynical and hypocritical in your approach to
others. When this happens, you should try to step back and take a good look at
your situation. An honest re-evaluation will probably humble you a bit and
make you realize that it’s necessary to recycle what others have given you
so that you can feel at ease with yourself. You’re the bearer of a great
tradition of enlightened philanthropy and must remain as high-minded and
selfless as possible, even though it’s not always the easiest thing in the
world for you to do.
Saturn sesquare
Uranus
Most of the time, you have the gift to be able to be productive and effective
in the midst of stressful situations. But, because you seem to thrive on this,
you may be attracted to jobs that are dangerous or filled with tension. There
are other times, however, when it all gets to be just too much to bear. This
causes you to be irritable and temperamental, usually with good cause.
Neptune sesquare
Ascendant
You are very sensitive to the needs of others, especially the needs of those
who are not as fortunate as yourself. Your ability to empathize with the
problems of others leads you to want to put their interests ahead of your own.
Although you are at your best when sacrificing yourself for others, try to be
sure that they are indeed worthy of your attentions.
Houses:
Bringing the Planets Down to Earth
The positions of the planets in the zodiac, and the aspects between the
planets, are nearly the same for everyone born on a given day. But the houses
reflect how the planets were arranged around you and you alone, at a given
hour and minute, and at a given place on Earth. Houses therefore personalize
the planets, showing how they relate to your own particular life.
The meanings of the twelve houses echo those of the twelve zodiacal signs, but are more specific and concrete. For example, the second sign, Taurus, is much concerned with the material world, whereas the second house deals with your actual possessions: how you feel about them, and how you acquire them.
The house delineations that follow show how the affairs of each house are flavored by the sign that lies on its cusp. Since houses are sometimes larger than signs, a house may also have one or more signs completely enclosed or “intercepted” within it, in which case you will find additional material about the intercepted signs in a house. Most important, you will learn below in what areas of life the planets — the main actors in your drama — are disposed to be most active, and how the way each planet operates is influenced by both its house and its sign.
House
1: Your Interface with the World
The first house focuses on the basic equipment that you have been given for
interacting with the world: your body and your physical constitution, your
face, your appearance, your personality, mannerisms and the way you present
yourself. It may not be how you see yourself, but it is how others tend to
perceive you, and you should be aware that it has an important effect on how
you are accepted in social situations. Planets in the first house tend to be
strong and “out-front,” especially when they are close to (that is,
conjunct) your Ascendant.
Aries on the
First
Self-confident, ambitious and passionate, you radiate positive energy. You are
a free spirit and must be first at everything you do. Brimming with energy and
self-assertion, you want to do things your way. Even though you may feel calm
and serene on the inside, you certainly do not project this attitude. You want
to do everything full-tilt, at a hundred miles an hour. A great competitor,
but a poor cooperator, you must learn how to lose more gracefully. You are
blunt and direct, and at times can be unfeeling and tactless, especially if
anyone offers you any resistance. You fight for your beliefs, but your
tendency to act first and think later often causes you grief.
Many planets in
the First
Like it or not, you are going to be noticed. Something about your physical
appearance — your bearing and demeanor — forces you to stick out in a
crowd. Your personality can be so dominant that you will be allowed to control
the flow and direction of most social interactions. Others will tend to wait
for you to take the lead, not only because probably you do it well, but also
because they might just be a little bit afraid of you. You must learn to be
very aware of the needs of others and to accommodate their needs to yours.
Venus in the
First
Your charming, agreeable nature makes you very popular with others.
Physically, you are quite attractive and will remain young looking all your
life. You are very graceful and possibly quite seductive, and you go out of
your way to make a good impression on others. Be careful that you do NOT
always try to get your way by coaxing and flattery — it could make you
overly dependent on the good will of others. It will be difficult for you, but
you must try to learn to be more self-assertive if you would live an
independent life.
Venus in Aries
You are a very affectionate person but you hate to be tied down. You are more
than willing to be the aggressor in initiating new relationships. Indeed, once
you have set your sights on someone, you tend to pursue him or her ardently
and passionately. But you do demand your own way in a relationship. Try to
give in to your partner’s needs and desires once in a while.
Mars in the First
You are so full of energy, so “wired,” that you always seem to be at the
bursting point. Self-assertive, courageous and daring, you have great
leadership potential if you can only stifle your impatience with those who do
not have your boundless energy and enthusiasm. Participatory sports would be a
good way for you to deal with your competitiveness and your need to flex your
muscles. When you act without thinking, you are often reckless. That can lead
to accidents, so be careful.
Mars in Taurus
You tend to be careful, slow and thorough in most things that you do. At
times, you are willful and stubborn when others try to alter your course. You
are definitely not a quitter, and will work long and hard to get what you
want. Your possessions are important to you. One of your continuing problems
is that you tend to regard the significant people in your life much the same
way as you do your possessions, becoming overly attached to them and much too
jealous. You repress your anger when you get upset and that is not healthy.
Try to learn to show your anger immediately in order to avoid painful
explosions later.
House
2: What You Own and Value
The second house goes a step outward from your own person and has to do with
resources that you possess, including money. It shows your attitude toward
what you own or would like to own: what you crave and covet, what you most
value, how you go about getting it, how you take care of it, and whether or
not you hang on to it. By extension, it can also indicate your sense of
values: not just material things but also the attitudes and ideas that you
hold dear.
Taurus on the
Second
You are known for being practical and conservative when it comes to financial
matters. Early in life you decided that it would only be worthwhile to own
things of high quality, and that you would rather do without than spend money
on something you judge to be inferior. The things you most value are tangible
and solid, pleasing to the senses and conducive to comfort. And in your life
you value doing useful things that have a practical, immediately realizable
purpose. You invest for security, taking a buy-and-hold strategy and
preferring high-quality stocks and bonds, preferably in companies that produce
something concrete and useful. If you venture into futures trading, you
stick with a few commodities you know well, solid things like wheat and, of
course, cattle. If you are extremely Taurean, however, all these paper
transactions may still seem too flimsy to you. You may feel more comfortable
investing in coins, collectibles or real estate.
Saturn in the
Second
You are extremely cautious and conservative about money or any other resource.
You tend to have a (perhaps unreasonable) fear that you will not have enough
— that there will be shortages — and therefore you stockpile money or
supplies. You are not afraid to work hard and long for what you want, so much
so that at times you forget how to relax and enjoy what you’ve got. But you
are very thrifty and a good planner. Just be careful that your anxieties do
not make you too stingy or miserly.
Saturn in Gemini
You are such a clear thinker and speaker, with a logical orderly mind, that
you are repulsed by abstract, intangible or unorganized thoughts or ideas. But
you tend to get uptight about speaking in public because you are afraid to be
wrong. Remember that the best way to learn is by making mistakes. Also, you
will be so carefully prepared that you probably will not make many mistakes
anyway. To be interesting to you, ideas have to be practical and useful.
House
3: Your Immediate Surroundings
Going a step further out from your own body and possessions, the third house
has to do with your immediate surroundings and how you interact with them. The
first “social” house, it describes brothers and sisters, neighbors and
anyone who just happens to be near you on a daily basis. It also describes
daily communication and transportation: letters, phone calls and emails, and
routine journeys such as commuting to shopping, school or work. The first “mental”
house, it governs early education and basic skills training, paving the way
for higher education in the ninth house which is directly opposite it in the
chart.
Gemini on the
Third
You are full of nervous energy, especially mental energy. Your mind is active
and alert, constantly whirling from one fascinating idea to another. You love
to learn things and you spend much time reading and traveling about and asking
questions. But your learning is often casual and superficial because you
rarely have the self-discipline and intensity to dig down to the deeper levels
of any subject. Your daily activities and routines are a hubbub of constant
hustling and bustling as you burn off your energy. Your speech is bubbling and
at times babbling as you try to get more than one thought at a time out of
your mouth. A great talker, but not a great listener — once you have been
mentally stimulated, you are off to the races again, and it becomes hard for
others to get in a word edgewise.
No planets in the
Third
Your third house is not activated by planetary activity. For the most part,
how you order your daily life activities is not an issue for you. It is
something that you rarely think about or have to plan consciously.
House
4: Where You Come From
Being at the very bottom of the wheel, the fourth house is both where you
originate and where you come to rest. As such, it describes your parents and
ancestral background, and later the home or protected space into which you
retreat each day for nourishment and sleep. A deeply personal house, the
fourth is concerned with security and peace of mind, the safety of loved ones,
and how you care for others and yourself. The place of your roots and the
earth beneath your feet, the fourth house rules the house or apartment where
you live and also real estate in general. In your trajectory through life, the
fourth house shows your origins and where you are coming from, just as the
tenth house and Midheaven describe your career and where you aim to go.
Cancer on the
Fourth
You are very sentimental about your mother (or the person who played that role
for you as a child), your home, your family and your cultural background. You
fondly remember those times when you felt most secure and comfortable and
loved. You will spend much time and effort trying to recreate those feelings
— security and peace of mind are paramount for you. When you are at your
best, you willingly provide warmth and comfort to all, but, at your worst, you
are moody and unpredictable and very demanding that others pay attention to
you.
No planets in the
Fourth
You have no planets in the fourth house. This means that home and family are
not likely to be major issues for you, or demand much time and energy on your
part. For further information on how you handle the issues of security and
peace of mind, look to the house and aspects of your Moon.
House
5: Playtime
After being nurtured and restored in the fourth house, you are refreshed and
full of energy for play and creative pursuits. Replenished by dreams, you have
creative ideas. Nurtured by your parents, you are ready to have your own
children. Fresh from the security of home, you are ready to trust the universe
and take risks. For all these reasons, the fifth house traditionally rules the
child in you and the children around you, your own personal creativity and
self-expression, plays and amusements of all sorts, gambling and speculation,
and courtship, love affairs and romance. This is an outgoing house, but it is
still beneath the horizon, in the territory of your heart’s desires.
Leo on the Fifth
For you, life is a stage and you are at the center of that stage. You love the
grand gestures and lavish entertainments that you think life should have in
abundance. With this attitude toward fun and games, it will be very helpful if
you earn a six-figure salary or have inherited wealth, otherwise you will
always be pining for what is out of your reach. But you are quite resourceful
and can usually look like a million bucks even if you only have modest means.
Very romantic when in love, you delight in treating your lover to the “good”
life and will try to impress him or her with expensive gifts and favors —
and you expect the same treatment in return. You are very proud of your
children and love to show them off to your friends and associates.
No planets in the
Fifth
The fifth house of your horoscope contains no planets. This does not mean that
you are any less self- expressive or creative or fun-loving than the next
person. It just means that your overall character is balanced to the extent
that these issues are not usually paramount for you.
House
6: Taking Care of Business
After the candle-lit dinner comes the credit-card bill. Courtship is followed
by the nitty-gritty of married life: babies, diapers and saving up for
college. After your creative impulse comes the need to learn the technique of
actually making something. And if you overexpend your energy, you get health
problems. The sixth house rules taking care of business on an everyday level.
This includes your job, paying bills and keeping the house clean. It also
includes maintaining your body with medical checkups and a daily regimen of
nutrition and exercise. In the old books it ruled servants, and it can by
extension rule the way you offer service to others. It also ruled useful
animals, particularly small ones like cats, dogs, chickens and pigs. Today
this usually means small pets, which exist in the personal, intimate part of
your life that is signified by houses that lie below the horizon.
Virgo on the
Sixth
You are a diligent, careful worker — an asset to any work place because you
are the one who has the patience to be sure that all the small but important
details are taken care of. Your patience allows you to do tasks that others
regard as drudgery. Your critical faculties are such that you are often
entrusted with analyzing, cataloging and categorizing things so that order and
efficiency can happen. Very prim and proper, you are fearful of doing anything
that might upset your health. As such, you watch your diet very closely and
are able to exert a seemingly superhuman amount of self-discipline in
controlling what you eat.
Uranus in the
Sixth
Your working habits tend to be unstable and unstructured. Very restless, you
get impatient whenever anyone tries to get you to do things according to old,
established ways. You are very inventive and creative, however, and one of
your strong points is your ability to develop innovative solutions to
complicated problems. Because you tend to be impulsive, scattered and nervous,
others may regard you as unreliable. The only cure for this is to work on
developing self-discipline.
Uranus in Libra
You, as well as your entire peer group, have a very free, unstable and
unconventional approach to relationships and emotional commitments. You will
be attracted to experiments in marriage and shared lifestyles. Personal
freedom is more important to you than entangling emotional bonds. In the realm
of art and aesthetics, you are attracted to the bizarre, shocking and unusual.
Pluto in the
Sixth
Your work is done with great intensity. Any task that you take on tends to
absorb you completely. You are a totally dedicated worker, preferring work to
play. You demand to be able to do things your own way and will brook no
interference from anyone, including your superiors. This behavior could be a
source of constant tension for you. Be careful not to work so hard that you
exhaust yourself or you will experience many health crises.
Pluto in Libra
Your entire generation was born at a time of radical changes in society’s
attitude toward marriage and interpersonal relationships. Because of a general
fear and awe at the power inherent in making emotional or contractual
commitments, such bonds are not made lightly. The result in the twentieth
century was a decline in the prevalence of marriage, an increase informal
living arrangements, and an intense focus on revitalizing relationships.
House
7: Relating One-to-One
If you courted in the fifth house and woke up in the sixth yoked to another in
a daily routine, the seventh house gives you a chance to hammer out a
relationship of true equals. The goal is wedded bliss and a true sense of
relatedness, but along the way there may be fights as you each define your
individuality and establish your own territory. Not only is the seventh the
traditional house of marriage, it is also the house of open enemies, your
sparring partners in life. In general, since the first house is you yourself,
the seventh house, directly opposite, is the other person in a variety of
situations. Besides signifying a marriage or sparring partner, the seventh
house rules business partners, or those on the other side of a desk, such as
consultants, lawyers, therapists or astrologers.
Libra on the
Seventh
You seek a partner who is cultured, refined and diplomatic. You appreciate the
tact and grace and admiration that another can bring to your life, precisely
because you tend to lack these qualities yourself. But, while for the most
part your mate will compromise and bow to your stronger will, do not be
surprised if he or she fights vigorously for rights that you carelessly
trample on. You enjoy the challenge of being able to provide the proper
setting for your partner (either in business or personal relationships). This
gives you an extra excuse to go out and conquer new territories. You attract
those with excellent judgment and common sense and should bow before them when
it comes to making important decisions that affect both of you.
No planets in the
Seventh
You have no planets in the seventh house of your horoscope. This does not mean
that you will never have any relationships or that you will never get married.
What it does indicate is that you will not find your life overly dominated by
working out problems associated with relationships. You will experience more
or less activity in these areas occasionally, along with everyone else.
House
8: Giving It All Away
Having achieved a relationship of equals in the seventh house, you are ready
to give up your separateness in the eighth, merging in sexual union and
becoming one on a deep emotional level. If the second house was about grasping
and possessing, the eighth is about sharing and letting go. While the second
rules your own money, the eighth rules how you deal with other people’s
money and how you pool resources. On a mundane level the eighth rules taxes,
but on a fundamental level it can rule giving up anything you value, including
your ego and even your body. In relaxing your grasp on what you find most
dear, you may find that you are really not as dependent on it as you thought.
In relinquishing, you achieve a new level of freedom, and feel lighter,
renewed and more alive. Related to all this, the eighth signifies mysteries
such as death and resurrection, magic and the occult, and the deep parts of
the psyche that are beyond our conscious grasp.
Scorpio on the
Eighth
You have a deep fascination with sexual matters, or for any other process that
involves the more complex emotional reactions of humans. You do not make
commitments lightly, but, once you have done so, you become totally involved
with your partner. Your feelings are so complicated and strong and your sexual
urges so dominant and primal that you find it difficult to express them, even
with a loving and caring partner. You want to push both of you to the ultimate
so that you can experience the peaks of ecstasy that you sense are possible.
Although this may cause your romantic life to be full of various crises, you
will work very hard to resolve them because you do not want to lose the
relationship. With regard to investments, your tendency to hold back and to
exercise caution should serve you well as you wait for the precise moment to
make your move.
Moon in the
Eighth
You have very powerful emotional responses which, at times, are difficult for
you to keep under control. You experience constant mood swings, running the
full gamut from elation to depression in a continuing cycle. These radical
mood shifts are a part of a cycle of personal growth and evolution — you
should learn to develop enough objectivity to observe it. Even though your
feelings are often intense, you tend to prefer to keep them to yourself.
However, be careful not to suppress feelings of anger and frustration entirely
or you may either become ill or you may just let it all out at the most
inappropriate of times.
Moon in Scorpio
Your feelings are intense and never superficial. You tend to be either very
angry, very sad, or completely and totally happy. Your moods are deep, extreme
and not always completely understood by you or those around you. Emotionally,
you tend to live at the cutting edge of life, pushing your reactions to the
ultimate extreme, even if the results are dangerous or upsetting. Easily made
jealous and very suspicious, you require a great deal of emotional
reassurance. A good detective, you are curious about deep and mysterious
things, especially human nature and motivations. Be careful not to be
ruthless, tactless or overly frank, or you will meet with a great deal
of resistance from others.
Neptune in the
Eighth
You are fascinated by the supernatural. Your heightened sensitivity makes you
aware that mysterious forces are at work behind the facade of ordinary
everyday events. Beware of becoming obsessed and frightened by the fantasies
that you concoct. You may need the help of a respected and grounded friend or
advisor to assist you in separating truth from fiction. Your tendency to fall
into negative emotional states stems from the wholly irrational fears to which
you are prone. Your tendency to act in the opposite manner from what reason
and logic might suggest does not make you very trustworthy in the handling of
money and property, either your own or that of others. It is best to seek
advice before attempting any major purchase or transfer of property.
Neptune in
Sagittarius
You, and your entire generation, are heavily involved in investigating and
idealizing foreign and exotic intellectual systems and religious philosophies.
The most extreme ideals will be pursued with gusto. You will be at the
forefront of humanitarian attempts to improve the lot of those who are in need
of assistance. You will be comfortable with the concept of the “global
village.”
House
9: Expanding Your Awareness
Approaching the highest point in the sky, the ninth house wafts you up and out
of your rut, giving you a broad and lofty view of the terrain beneath. Whereas
the third ruled basic schooling and short trips, the ninth rules higher
education and long-distance travel. It removes you from your everyday routine
so you can see the overall pattern, the overlooked connections between things.
It rules all-embracing concepts (such as your philosophy of life) and
institutions (like religion and law) that stand over society and keep it bound
together. It can also signify your teachers and mentors, your library, and all
else that broadens your outlook.
Sagittarius on
the Ninth
You are attracted to optimistic and far-reaching philosophies of life.
Although you tend to be a bit conventional in your thinking, you are generally
broad-minded and open-minded enough to avoid any charges of intolerance.
Indeed, you are intellectually quite restless by nature and avidly keep
abreast of the latest trends in philosophy and metaphysics. Your knowledge is
so broad and your enthusiasm to share what you know is so sincere that you may
be attracted to conveying what you know to others as a teacher, especially
later in your life.
Jupiter in the
Ninth
You are fascinated by anything that is foreign, new or exotic. Very curious by
nature, you love to travel in order to broaden your understanding of the
world. You are attracted to the wide-ranging issues that are posed by such
subjects as religion, philosophy and metaphysics. You want to understand the
overall, big picture and are rarely concerned with the everyday and (to you,
at least) minor details of living. Generally, you tend to be very tolerant and
accepting of those who are different from you.
Jupiter in
Capricorn
You tend to feel that the only results that are worthwhile are the results
that are concrete and demonstrable. You distrust abstract solutions and
appreciate measurable achievements. An excellent organizer and planner, you
are optimistic as well as practical and realistic about what can and what
cannot happen. Very responsible, you consider it a personal weakness to be
wrong about anything. This makes you appropriately cautious. You are very
efficient but you tend to be cool and detached.
House
10: Your Public Self
If the fourth house showed your roots and where you came from, the tenth shows
what you are ultimately aiming at in life. Whereas the sixth shows your daily
job and how you make a living, the tenth signifies your career, your personal
contribution, your reputation and what you become known for. Some astrologers
also believe that the fourth house signifies one parent, and the tenth
signifies the other. The tenth-house parent is most likely the one who
prepares you for the world. The closer a planet is to the Midheaven, the more
likely that planet is to be the major significator of your life’s direction.
Capricorn on the
Tenth
You have an incredibly strong need to succeed at whatever life goal you have
set for yourself. You feel that you absolutely must succeed, because you fear
failure. You therefore organize your life with an astounding degree of
thoroughness so that nothing can distract you. Your need to be thorough
usually comes at the expense of speed, making you a bit of a plodder. You are
the ideal person to supervise an ongoing task that must be executed with
precision. Because of your persistence, you are able to make real what for
others are only dreams .
North Node in the
Tenth
You tend to have a very practical approach to the way you deal with other
people. You rarely, if ever, form casual relationships, and need a real and
identifiable purpose for spending time with anyone. While some may regard you
as cool and calculating, you’re an excellent companion to those who can be
of assistance to you, especially those who can help you move ahead in your
chosen career. To avoid acquiring a reputation as a backslapper or social
climber, in return you must offer real value to those with whom you want to
associate.
North Node in
Aquarius
As long as someone else (or a group or organization) appeals to your
intellectual sensibilities, you’ll try to ally yourself with them in some
way. You may find that you always seem to get involved with many wide- ranging
groups — so much so that you find it difficult to fit them all into your
busy schedule. Your many friends and acquaintances provide you with needed
stimulation. Loyal and fair-minded, you try to spend time equally with all
your friends, never concentrating on just one or two for any length of time.
Although probably quite conservative yourself, you’re attracted to those who
are a bit offbeat or eccentric, because you enjoy watching their minds work.
House
11: Your Circle of Acquaintances
The eleventh is the last house of relationships: not brothers, sisters and
neighbors who just happen to be around you, not one-to-one partners, but the
circle of friends and associates whom you actively choose. It shows the way
you make and keep friendships, the organizations you join, the networking you
do, and the general way you interact with groups. After you have established
yourself as an individual and learned to form personal relationships with
others, you are ready to think about the common good. This is why the eleventh
often signifies groups dedicated to social or other sorts of collective
improvement.
Aquarius on the
Eleventh
You do not make friends quickly because you are wary of others getting too
close to you and making demands on your time. But, once you realize that the
other person shares similar interests with you, you will usually loosen up and
want to spend a lot of time with him or her. As a matter of fact, you are
quite comfortable with the “non-emotionally-involving” nature of
friendships and you will devote a great part of your time and energy to
spreading your circle of relationships. You like to function in group
structures, partly because of the anonymity they afford, and also because you
feel that you can be truly effective and that your efforts can actually bring
results that would be impossible otherwise.
No planets in the
Eleventh
The eleventh house of your horoscope contains no planets. This does not mean
that you will never have friends or associates or that you will never be
active in groups that express your philosophy of life. It simply indicates
that these are not paramount issues for you. From time to time, influences
from outside you may cause you to become more active in these areas, but this
will be temporary rather than life-long.
House
12: The Hidden You
The twelfth house is where planets go just after they have risen. Here planets
are still wet behind the ears, blinking in the sunlight and unsteady on their
feet. Feeling completely vulnerable, planets in the twelfth tend to hide.
Their energies can become repressed and secretive, and sometimes they lurk as
complexes in the subconscious. This is why the twelfth is associated with
self-sabotage, with hidden enemies, and with prison and whatever else makes
you feel confined. The traditional association with hospitals and prisons
suggest that constructive ways of dealing with twelfth-house problems include
helping others who are similarly repressed or confined. Also, some with a
strong twelfth-house emphasis become successful as undercover workers or as
the power behind the throne.
Pisces on the
Twelfth
There is a part of you that you try to suppress because it gives the lie to
your usual self-image. While you love to portray yourself as aggressive and
self-directed and in charge of your own life, you have a sentimental, feeling
and caring side that embarrasses you. You become confused and guilty when you
realize that certain situations might be better handled with care and
compassion rather than with your usual devil-may-care bravado. You must learn
to trust in your self-composure to the extent that you know that you can wear
your heart on your sleeve without giving up any of your vaunted independence.
Take the time to help others — it expands and ennobles your humanity and
takes nothing away from you.
Sun in the
Twelfth
You tend to be shy and retiring, especially when your sense of self-esteem has
been threatened. You often feel that you do not deserve to make a mark in the
world, perhaps because of some painful early childhood experience. This is an
unnecessary fear, however. You have very good qualities and should be proud of
yourself. You are a caring, sensitive and compassionate person, very helpful
to others. Your awareness of your own pain and self-doubt makes you very
effective in extending your sympathy to others whose problems are more likely
than not much more tangible than those that you think are holding you back.
Sun in Pisces
Extremely sensitive, you absorb the emotions of others (whether positive or
negative) like a sponge. Emotionally vulnerable, you are easily touched by the
feelings and plights of others. You are at your best when you can structure
your environment in such a way that you are surrounded by positive, upbeat
people. You are very helpful and understanding of the needs of others. Indeed,
at times this can be a disadvantage, because you can be a sucker for anyone
who needs help. Rather shy, dreamy, romantic in nature, you delight in
retreating into your private fantasy world. Just be careful that you do not
get lost in it. Trust your intuitions — you may be quite psychic.
Mercury in the
Twelfth
You tend to be secretive, not wanting others to know what you are thinking.
This is probably because you are afraid that your ideas are not worthy to be
heard or discussed. You tend to enjoy constructing a private fantasy world
into which you can escape. The danger of this is that others may take your
quietness for aloofness or snobbery and may start to distrust you. Another
danger is that you may become overly dependent on your inner world and become
fearful of everyday reality. Learn to trust others more. You will be surprised
to learn that they are as full of self-doubt as you are.
Mercury in Aries
Very quick-witted, you are known for being an independent thinker. You love to
debate and argue, and are excellent at repartee and battles of wits. At times,
however, you act too fast on hastily formed opinions. Defending your rash and
sometimes incorrect conclusions can waste a lot of energy. It is perfectly
acceptable to defend your beliefs with your usual vigor, but try not to take
the opinions of others as personal insults.
Chiron in the
Twelfth
Suffering is something you know all too well. Even if you are not to blame,
you will somehow find a way to feel guilty about whatever goes wrong in your
life. Compassionate and sensitive, you are willing to dedicate yourself to
helping others. You often fritter away hours in daydreaming and making
unrealistic plans. The inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality
will impact on your relationships as well as your job performance. Being
familiar with emotional pain allows you to help others to take steps toward
changing their lives.
Chiron in Aries
Obsessively independent and intent on enjoying life to the fullest, you may
inadvertently neglect those you love. Pay attention to those who mean the most
to you, or you may wind up being alone. You clearly want to be a trailblazer
in your field. At times, opposition to your ideas leaves you feeling that it
is you against the world. An iron will and a pioneering spirit will help you
overcome all obstacles and reach your goals.
A
Mirror of Your Uniqueness
This report is based on the position of the Sun, Moon and planets at the
moment of your birth, as seen from the point on Earth where you were born.
Such an arrangement of planets and stars will never be repeated in exactly the
same form. Like the genes that determine your body and temperament, your
astrological chart is made up of the same basic parts that other humans have,
but the arrangement of these parts is uniquely your own.
You could think of your birth moment as a seed that contains the potential for how you will unfold. The arrangement of the planets at your birth does not, however, cause your body structure and temperament in the way that the patterning of your DNA causes it. Instead, the planetary positions at your birth employ the language of symbols to mirror who you are. Like a mirror, your chart enables you to see yourself from outside yourself, and it therefore extends your point of view.
To use a different analogy, your chart shows the deck you’ve been dealt, the raw materials you are given from which to fashion a life. Nobody’s perfect: we are all given our special problems to solve and our special strengths and beauties. In knowing what you have to work with, you will be better able to make use of your gifts, fill in (or at least be comfortable about) what you lack, and grow in the life directions that are right for you and you alone.
Instead of assuming that there is one norm for everyone, astrology attempts to show the special pattern that is right for you. In doing so, it can give you clues as to how you can more fully and consciously fill the unique role that you have been given in this lifetime, and enrich the world with the gifts that only you can bestow.
