Introduction
The report that you are about to read is a first step in decoding the symbolic language of your birth chart. It explains the raw materials that you have been given for building a life. It outlines how the overall shape of your chart reflects the overall shape of your personality, what your greatest challenges are likely to be, the strengths you have been given to meet these challenges, and the main arenas you are given for playing out your life’s drama.

In this report you may notice certain places where the information seems to be contradictory. This is to be expected, because people are complex. For example, in some situations we are shy and in others, aggressive. When you see repeated patterns, though, take special note: these are apt to be the dominant themes in your life.

The Main Emphasis in Your Chart
The general distribution of planets around you at your birth is one of the things that shows the overall shape of your personality. Before taking a closer look at the details, let’s stand back for a moment to see whether your chart contains any obvious emphasis in a sign, group of signs, or other division of the horoscope wheel.

Most planets are in the eastern half of the chart.
You prefer to be in charge of your own destiny, rather than following someone else's dreams, adventures, projects or proposals. This tends to make you an outgoing, active person, in charge of your affairs. Independent and outwardly directed, you are conscious of the direction in which you lead your life. An entrepreneurial pursuit of some type will find you at your best. You need followers to help you, so be sure that you attract those who are willing to follow your vision. Be clear, however, as to who is in charge. Joining forces with someone as strong-minded as you may cause the kind of stress that will distract you from your goals. Make all possible allowances for practicality; and then go ahead and pursue your vision.

Most planets are below the horizon.
Your personal sense of identity is very important to you. Who you are and where you have come from are constant sources of interest to you. Your understanding of your cultural heritage and family roots will help you to determine your direction and goals in life. You feel that answers to important questions can best be found within, rather than in the outer world or in a relationship. Self-awareness and self-composure allow you to be self-assured in your career and relationships.

Most planets are above the horizon.
You tend to identify who you are with what you have accomplished in the world. This may make you highly competitive in establishing yourself within a definable lifestyle or career. Your trophy case or the diplomas on your wall may be a source of great personal satisfaction. It is important to balance your need for outer-world-accomplishments with care for your inner self. Also, take great care not to lose sight of the needs of your loved ones.

There are many planets in Fire signs.
With many planets in either Aries, Leo or Sagittarius, you are likely to be one of the original self-starters. Passionate and full of strong feelings and ideals, you do not need external stimuli to get you moving in new directions. Drama is your mantra. Perceiving life as a game with high stakes, you are just as passionate when you win as when you lose.

In many ways you act and feel as if the world revolves around you, and sometimes it does. You tend to dominate your sphere, and when you come across other Fire types you instantly like or dislike them with no feelings in-between.

You are devoted to your ideals and beliefs, and will play the game to the end, displaying your boundless enthusiasm no matter what the outcome. You despise static, unchanging and unyielding situations, and will put forth your best efforts to change them. With your courage, energy and dramatic flair, you can be an effective leader, and will be the first in line to explore uncharted regions.

Your tendency to act first and think later, however, may lead others to accuse you of insensitivity. Learn to be more aware of others’ feelings. Realize that your actions affect others’ lives in ways that you may not have considered. Remember to develop sensitivity and appraise situations intellectually before you act with your heart.

There are few or no planets in Earth signs.
With a marked lack of planets in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn, you may find it difficult to handle the practical, everyday details of living with any degree of grace. Practical knowledge is not one of your higher priorities, and you may not particularly like doing things that require hands-on manipulation. You tend to be either unconnected with the day-to-day reality of your life or to make plans that reality dictates cannot come to fruition. Because you dread taking on everyday responsibilities, you may do things that others judge to be childish or irresponsible.

Establishing good habits for daily living will help smooth out some of your inconsistencies. By taking the time to stick with a plan, regimen, or project, you will learn the value of creating things that last. Otherwise you will tend to drift from one idea or concept to another without really settling down and experiencing life on its most fundamental level. Try also to develop your sensual side. Take the time to feel, smell, taste, and physically experience things. Doing this will help keep you in focus and connected to the larger world around you.

There are many planets in Air signs.
With all those planets in signs such as Gemini, Libra or Aquarius, you probably love to live in your intellect, and excel at organizing, planning, and developing new techniques. Your strengths are logic, reason and impartiality. Because of your ability to remain detached and objective, you are a fair-minded judge of most situations. You can see and understand interrelationships that those who are emotionally or practically oriented find difficult to fathom. You could be a fighter for ideas and ideals, like a statesman who lives simply, has few material needs, and is held in high regard for his beliefs.

You like to connect people and ideas. Not being much interested in practical experience, you live in a world of concepts and use social interaction as your medium. Although you are a very social person, you prefer to remain detached. Emotional displays turn you off and you would rather negotiate. You may be in danger of being cold and emotionally insensitive to others. Understand that many do not operate in your rarefied atmosphere, and remember to be charitable if they lead mundane, unimaginative existences.

Unless you also have an emphasis in Earth signs or on such planets as Saturn and the Moon, your life may have a rootless quality. Although you may not notice it, others may be aware of a lack of stability in your material, external sense of being. To achieve balance, you may need consciously to stick to projects, put down roots, and cultivate your emotional life.

There are few or no planets in Fixed signs.
Your chart’s marked absence of emphasis in signs like Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius indicates that you may find it difficult to stick to something once you have begun it, whether it be a job, a diet or a relationship. You may feel frustrated when your life fails to be a never-ending kaleidoscope of variety and change. You do have the virtue of flexibility, but unless you learn to build some stability into your life, others will tend to think that you can never carry anything through to a conclusion.

There are many planets in Mutable signs.
Your chart’s strong emphasis in signs like Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces makes you tend to be extremely flexible. When the situation demands that you change in order to move forward, you can adapt and transform yourself with ease. You are not necessarily the pioneering type, but if change must happen, it is natural for you to glide along with the flow. At times, though, you feel that you are at the mercy of forces beyond your control, and are constantly being blown from pole to pole. This may make you feel nervous and anxious, but like everything else in your life, this, too, will pass.

There is an unusual number of planets in Gemini.
To be happy, you must experience life in a kaleidoscopic, ever-changing manner. Naturally inquisitive, you enjoy learning about many different things, and are uncomfortable if forced to narrow your vision and study any particular subject in depth or detail. You love the social whirl but are not as a rule attracted to long-term commitments. For you, relationships must offer excitement and variety. It is not reasonable, however, to think that life can always be one grand party. To balance your nature, it is good to try sticking with something now and then, exercising your discipline, and putting a bit of structure and routine into your life.

Aspects: Keys to Your Inner Drama
In your birth chart, the Sun, Moon and planets play the central role. They are the actors in the drama, the moving figures on the stage, each with a character of its own. How these characters relate to each other, whether and how they clash or harmonize, whether they bring out each other’s best or worst qualities, is shown by the aspects, or angles, between the planets.

Is the ongoing drama between two planets a continuing tension that periodically erupts into crises (conjunctions, oppositions and squares), a harmonious alliance where the two planets aid and abet each other (trines and sextiles), an uneasy truce full of ambiguities (certain other aspects in neither of these families), or simply indifference (no aspect at all)? Below you will see which pairs of planets are in aspect in your chart.

Each of the following sections lists the aspects in order of their general importance, with aspects involving the Sun, Moon and fast-moving planets coming first. You can get a further idea of their importance in your particular chart by going to the aspect table at the beginning of this report and finding the five or so aspects with the smallest number of degrees and minutes in the “The orb is” column.

Your Major Challenges
We start with your conjunctions, oppositions and squares because these tend to point out the challenges that you have been set in life. Mose people experience these aspects as problems, at least at first. Armed with awareness, however, you can come to view these so-called “ hard” aspects as the blessings that they really are. These are the forces that spur you forward. When you face the challenges that these aspects pose, you grow in strength, confidence, wisdom and maturity.

Sun opposite Moon
The tension that you felt between your parents at an early age affects the way you handle life’s situations as an adult. You feel a great deal of internal tension within yourself. When you make a decision to go in a certain direction, the value of going in the opposite direction becomes painfully apparent to you, making you doubt the wisdom of your original decision. It seems that you are constantly living on the horns of a dilemma. At times, this stops you cold in a very frustrating manner, but at other times you use the energy built up by this tension to move on to better things.

Sun conjunct Venus
Others immediately notice your warm and friendly manner. You are the first to go out of your way to make others feel comfortable and accepted. Blessed are the peacemakers, and you are one. This is a great gift. Just be sure that you do not always compromise your own needs, or others (who might not be as nice as you are) may walk all over you.

Sun opposite Saturn
The weight of the world seems to be on your shoulders, and you sometimes resent it. You always seem to be the one who has to do what is correct, proper, responsible and mature, and this does not leave much time for amusement. This seemed worse when you were younger, but it becomes much less of a problem as you age. As an adult, you have the practical part of being in the world so much in hand that you can organize your life to do just about anything you want. You can even organize it to be frivolous.

Sun conjunct North Node
Your sense of personal identity is intimately related to your ability to make satisfying and important relationships with those in authority. You don’t feel complete as a person unless you’re actively involved in a group. A natural networker, you tend to feel that it isn’t so much what you know that counts, but who you know. You should actively seek out important connections in your neighborhood or community, but you should also beware of a tendency to toady up to people because of what they can do for you. Make sure that there’s real substance and commitment in your group efforts. If you do, you’ll probably become an effective force in your community.

Sun conjunct Ascendant
This aspect makes the Sun extremely important in your chart. You stand out from the crowd and enjoy being the center of attention, the cynosure of all eyes. You have an impressive bearing and demeanor, and are at your best in situations that allow you to mix with others. You get all A’s at a distance, but remember that others also judge you on your inner character and substance, not just on the good opinion you have of yourself. It would be worth your while to make sure that this opinion is justified.

Moon conjunct Saturn
You are known for your coolness and objectivity in times of stress. You have the ability to make unemotional and responsible decisions when others are losing their heads or going off half-cocked. And you appreciate the trust that others have in you. The negative side of this is that you tend to remain cool and detached at times when warmth and spontaneity are needed. Feelings of self-doubt can make you shrink from emotional attachments, so that you run the risk of becoming lonely and alienated. Do not feel bad, though. Once you have made an emotional commitment, you will toil long and hard to make the relationship work. In the proper circumstances, this is a great gift.

Mercury square Uranus
Your quick, agile mind usually has no problem steering a correct path through the mountains of new and exciting information that you deal with as a normal part of your routine. But every now and then you try to do things too quickly, and foul-ups begin to occur, much to your embarrassment. Things seem to get scattered, and you become more and more nervous and frenzied. Learn to slow down just a bit. Your speed of comprehension far surpasses that of almost anyone else, so why worry about going into hyperdrive?

Venus conjunct North Node
Other people seek you out because you have such a gentle, loving nature. You have the ability to put others completely at ease — to make them think that you’re there for them totally in a supportive role and to be absolutely sincere about it. You have the knack of saying and doing just the right thing to make others think well of themselves. Be careful though not to use this great gift for your own selfish ends — you don’t want to become known as a flirt or a flatterer.

Venus conjunct Ascendant
You have such a charming, warm, engaging and sincere personality that others immediately like you. Your popularity stems from your own need to socialize — you like others as much as they like you. A strong sense of fairness and appropriateness and decorum makes you the ideal peacemaker and diplomat. You will go out of your way to make everything around you harmonious and tranquil.

Mars square Pluto
You have enormous drive and ambition, but you often find that the forces that you need to overcome in order to attain your goals are much stronger than you are. A probable cause is that you tend to overlook the needs of others in order to get what you want. If you control and manipulate others and use underhanded or unethical tactics, you force others to be as violent and dictatorial as yourself. When you learn to counter your more selfish tendencies with tact and altruism, you can be a powerful force for constructive change.

Jupiter square Midheaven
You have high aspirations for yourself, and are likely to have the charm, grace and social sense to attain them. Self-righteousness and snobbery do not become you, however. Be careful not to allow your personal pride in your accomplishments to degenerate into arrogance or selfishness. Your downfall will be swift and sudden if you begin to think that you are better than your peers, or that you do not need the assistance of others to make your plans come about.

North Node conjunct Ascendant
You have an overwhelming need to form important connections with other people. You would not feel complete if you were living alone simply because you need the give-and-take that comes from living in close harmony with another person or persons. But make sure that the group or person with whom you choose to associate is totally compatible with you because you’ll tend to identify completely with the consensus goals and give all of your energy to them. If you’re not totally sympathetic with those group goals, you’ll feel stifled and trapped and will find it difficult to switch allegiances.

Chiron square Midheaven
A probing mind and the need to question authority makes it difficult for you to accept advice or listen to parents, teachers and employers. While your stubborn streak can help you persevere, your headstrong nature may, at times, work against you. Don’t rebel simply because of differences of opinion. Try to make peace with those who can teach you to excel in whatever you do.

Your Sustaining Strengths
Trines and sextiles tend to work with a natural harmony that calls for little effort on your part. They show the things that you just seem naturally good at. Usually they point to the more positive parts of your nature, and act as support that you can call on in difficult times.

Because these aspects are so comfortable, they are not likely to push you to expand your limits or cause you to change. It is actually helpful to have a balance of hard aspects (like oppositions and squares) to stimulate you to grow, and soft aspects (trines and sextiles) to ease your passage and provide places to rest.

If you are blessed with a predominance of trines and sextiles, your life may tend to be placid and your nature serene. If so, remember that the world around you is probably sorely in need of these qualities that are yours to bestow.

Sun sextile Mars
Physically, you are full of vital energy and, for the most part, are quite coordinated. As such, you need to get as much exercise as you can, feeling more comfortable when you are moving around rather than when you are idle. You are very competitive and love to have something or someone to push against. Aggressive and courageous, you have excellent leadership credentials.

Mercury sextile Chiron
You enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and have a way of understanding diverse points of view. You are drawn to fields such as journalism, writing, and broadcasting. Whichever career you choose, you will try to use your position as a platform to expound your own point of view. You may also fight for unpopular causes. Try to be diplomatic so that you can keep your job and communicate your strong opinions and beliefs in the most effective way possible.

Venus sextile Uranus
You have a free and easy manner, especially when it comes to relationships. When involved with someone, you have a unique and unconventional approach to seduction and lovemaking that others find very exciting. But you do not have a long attention span and, when the spark leaves, so do you. This can lead to an unsettled and unpredictable love life, but you do not really mind. If attracted to the arts, and you probably are, you will not show any respect for traditional ways of doing things. Yours will be the path of the new and, at times, quite unorthodox.

Venus trine Midheaven
You are a truly loving, warm and generous person. This makes you well liked by all. Since you do not go out of your way to push yourself forward in the world, others tend to look out for your interests. You prefer peace and harmony so much that you will often compromise your position just so that there is no tension around you. Be careful of this tendency because, if it becomes habitual, you can soon lose all of your self- respect and be forever at the mercy of those with whom you associate.

Mars trine Saturn
It is easy for you to fall into a strictly regimented, routine existence. You devote much of your energy to seeing that nothing interferes with the tidy and functional patterns that you have consciously created. At times you may be overly cautious and defensive, being fearful to make a move that might be upsetting. Try to alter your habits occasionally so that you do not become frustrated by dullness and monotony.

Mars sextile North Node
You have enormous energy, and delight in using it in service to others. You also enjoy the comradeship that comes from working hard with others toward a worthy goal. Once you’ve decided that you’re “for” something, your devotion and loyalty are fierce and total. By the same token, you are ferocious against those who are on the other side. No one will ever accuse you of ambiguity or divided loyalties.

Jupiter trine Neptune
You are full of big ideas about how to make things better for yourself and for those you love. Unless you also have a strongly practical streak, these plans rarely amount to anything. However, that never stops you from dreaming on. The problem is that you are so inclined to totally believe in your grand schemes that you often take unwise risks, and have a hard time learning from your mistakes. Remember never to bet the mortgage, no matter what.

Uranus sextile North Node
You can be an exciting and agreeable companion as long as others don’t try to tie you down with any sort of long-term commitments. Your boundless energy and enthusiasm bring a sense of excitement and fun to any community project that interests you. You have a rather short attention span, but once you take on a task, your innovative ideas are usually appreciated by others. You can improve relationships of almost any type by introducing change and variety into your daily doings — and if you don’t, you’ll soon become bored and will want to move on.

Uranus sextile Ascendant
You are known to others as being a bit of a flake due to your tendency toward erratic and eccentric patterns of behavior. But you prefer it that way. Relationships must be constantly stimulating for you to keep your interest up. When the excitement dies down or the novelty wears off, you simply (and unemotionally) move on to someone else. This does not mean that you are not a caring person, just that you have an unusually short attention span.

Uranus sextile Midheaven
Your ability to see things in a fresh light and to suggest new and unusual solutions to problems will be a great asset in your career development. However, your demand to be free to call your own shots and proceed as you see fit will probably not go well over the long haul — your career may see many changes as you move from one interesting set of challenges to another. You are naturally attracted to fields requiring the ability to understand and effectively deal with highly complex technologies.

North Node trine Midheaven
Your advancement in life is due to the quality of the people and groups with whom you associate. Your community spirit is high — you enjoy working with others for common goals. Your enthusiasm and sincerity and true caring allow you to quickly rise to the top and assume leadership roles in the many volunteer projects you take on. You’re a true humanitarian, caring little for personal gain. At some point your peers will probably honor you for your good works.

Rounding Out the Picture
Two other families of so-called “minor” aspects add yet more information about the way the planets relate to each other in your chart. Semisquares and sesquares (also known as sesquiquadrates) share the dynamic, crisis-prone nature of the square but need to be quite exact in order to be felt.

Semisextiles and quincunxes connect signs that are totally unrelated to each other. They can have an odd, unsettling quality, indicating problems or issues that it’s hard to get a grip on. They are like interesting puzzles that call for a creative solution.

Sun semisquare Jupiter
You have a continuing problem of always wanting more and more when moderation would be a logical way of proceeding. Your tendency to excess — whether in dietary concerns or budgetary bloat or grandiosity of schemes — is always causing you difficulties. You keep thinking that you will be able “to get away with it” just one more time or that just one more will not hurt, and then you are surprised when you experience setbacks. Even though you are usually fortunate in your enterprises, a little self-discipline would make your road much easier to travel.

Moon semisquare Midheaven
You tend to proceed toward your life goals only if there are emotional considerations attached to them. You must feel that your sense of security and peace of mind would be threatened if you do not motivate yourself to move forward toward some sort of clearly realizable goal. As such, you tend to make major life decisions that are not always rational and logical and that you sometimes regret later on. But learn to trust your instincts as they are often correct — the heart has its reasons, too.

Mercury semisextile Venus
At your best, you can sense the way that everything relates to everything else as a part of an organic whole. This usually enhances your ability to think things through. At times, though, when you are forced to think logically, rigorously and matter-of-factly, you become confused and dumbfounded. This is because you need to see whole patterns in order to make sense of things. You flounder when you cannot see the forest for the trees. Try stepping back a bit in order to get a proper perspective. This placement also indicates a refined aesthetic sensibility that allows you to appreciate art or even be an artist yourself.

Mercury semisextile Ascendant
You enjoy being with people, but you often find it difficult to communicate your thoughts. This can really annoy you. It seems that, due to your nervousness, your thoughts are not always easy to articulate, and so misunderstandings result. Also, you sometimes say things when you do not have the full attention of your listener. You must learn to concentrate more on what you are doing, especially when you have something important to discuss.

Jupiter sesquare Saturn
You have a balanced and levelheaded outlook on life that allows you to make the correct decision at the correct time. Indeed, you are well-known for your good sense of timing and are often sought out to administer important projects where planning and scheduling are key issues. At times, you get a bit frustrated because you would like to throw caution to the wind and do something wild and crazy. But common sense usually wins out in the end.

Saturn quincunx Pluto
You tend to think that all of life is hard and difficult and that you can only make your way by overcoming overwhelming odds. Everything that you do seems to be an uphill battle and, if you continue to accept this as an inevitability, your thoughts will assure that it will indeed continue as a never-ending pattern for you. The only way to work around this tendency is to realize that it is self-created. You must accept that things can be better and will be better, only more gradually for you than for most others. At your best, you have the toughness to weather any storm.

Chiron semisextile Uranus
The desire to be recognized for your uniqueness motivates all that you do. Though you demand respect from others, you do not always give it in return. At times, you feel threatened by those who have equally passionate ideas. Mastering a skill or fighting for your beliefs can positively impact your life by making you feel special. You may have inspiring and original ideas, but hard work and consistency are what really get you to the head of the class.

Chiron semisextile North Node
Obsessed with being the best at everything you do, you can be extremely demanding of yourself and others. You have the reputation of being a hard taskmaster who demands nothing less than perfection from your personal and professional relationships. Striving for excellence is admirable, but it can alienate those who want to be close to you. Accept your strengths as well as your weaknesses, and you will be much more pleasant to be around.

Houses: Bringing the Planets Down to Earth
The positions of the planets in the zodiac, and the aspects between the planets, are nearly the same for everyone born on a given day. But the houses reflect how the planets were arranged around you and you alone, at a given hour and minute, and at a given place on Earth. Houses therefore personalize the planets, showing how they relate to your own particular life.

The meanings of the twelve houses echo those of the twelve zodiacal signs, but are more specific and concrete. For example, the second sign, Taurus, is much concerned with the material world, whereas the second house deals with your actual possessions: how you feel about them, and how you acquire them.

The house delineations that follow show how the affairs of each house are flavored by the sign that lies on its cusp. Since houses are sometimes larger than signs, a house may also have one or more signs completely enclosed or “intercepted” within it, in which case you will find additional material about the intercepted signs in a house. Most important, you will learn below in what areas of life the planets — the main actors in your drama — are disposed to be most active, and how the way each planet operates is influenced by both its house and its sign.

House 1: Your Interface with the World
The first house focuses on the basic equipment that you have been given for interacting with the world: your body and your physical constitution, your face, your appearance, your personality, mannerisms and the way you present yourself. It may not be how you see yourself, but it is how others tend to perceive you, and you should be aware that it has an important effect on how you are accepted in social situations. Planets in the first house tend to be strong and “out-front,” especially when they are close to (that is, conjunct) your Ascendant.

Gemini on the First
Extremely active by nature, you like to get around, meet people and do varied things. Very restless, you just can’t seem to stay put. To keep your mind stimulated, you need to be involved in several projects at once, and may be known as a Jack-of-all-trades. You like to read, write letters and talk — constantly. Seemingly ageless, you will always appear much younger than you really are. Adaptable and inquisitive, lively and versatile, you are always open to new ideas and experiences. Because of the high nervous tension that you always seem to have, you may find athletic activity a good way to burn off energy. To counter a tendency to experience things only superficially, it would help occasionally to make an effort to dig in and absorb things at a deeper level.

Many planets in the First
Like it or not, you are going to be noticed. Something about your physical appearance — your bearing and demeanor — forces you to stick out in a crowd. Your personality can be so dominant that you will be allowed to control the flow and direction of most social interactions. Others will tend to wait for you to take the lead, not only because probably you do it well, but also because they might just be a little bit afraid of you. You must learn to be very aware of the needs of others and to accommodate their needs to yours.

Sun in the First
You have such a strong, powerful presence and personality that others cannot help but notice you. Extremely self-confident, you enjoy impressing your will on others. You are physically quite strong and are probably blessed with good health. You must be on your guard to let others assert themselves with you. Hear them out and take their advice and suggestions or you may be thought of as being arrogant and pushy.

Sun in Gemini
You have a quick, bright and agile mind, but an extremely short attention span. You love the external, kaleidoscopic aspects of life, but you tend to avoid (and even fear) deep, close emotional involvements. As such, you seem to enjoy travel and sightseeing and generally being “on-the-go.” You get quite listless when things around you become static and dull, but your excitement returns whenever you are stimulated by a new idea. Chatty, inquisitive and quite playful, you enjoy practical jokes and games in general. Your moods change quickly and often — you are very restless and constantly in motion. You are known for your versatility and adaptability. Your vivaciousness enlivens any social gathering.

Venus in the First
Your charming, agreeable nature makes you very popular with others. Physically, you are quite attractive and will remain young looking all your life. You are very graceful and possibly quite seductive, and you go out of your way to make a good impression on others. Be careful that you do NOT always try to get your way by coaxing and flattery — it could make you overly dependent on the good will of others. It will be difficult for you, but you must try to learn to be more self-assertive if you would live an independent life.

Venus in Gemini
You are friendly, warm, open and tolerant toward others. You love variety in relationships, indeed you may even prefer to maintain more than one relationship at a time. Very witty and humorous, you have the ability to amuse and please others. This makes you quite popular. You love to play the field and thus find it difficult to settle down and make any deep emotional commitments. Your innate charm and vivacity makes you welcome most everywhere you go.

North Node in the First
You tend to be a real “social creature.” You prefer the social whirl of your friends and acquaintances — your need to express yourself creatively is done so much better in group situations than if you were on your own. You’re also a good friend and a trusted acquaintance and should be justly proud of that. While you’ll be among the first to stick up for the goals and needs of your group, try not to become overly dependent on your social acquaintances. There are certain situations that demand that you be able to act on your own and for your own personal good. You may have to go out of your way to learn the skills necessary to become self-reliant. It will be worth the extra effort.

North Node in Gemini
Throughout your life, you consciously seek out many different contacts with others. Many of these are of very short duration, not necessarily because you’re fickle, but because you are excited by the prospect of meeting someone new. Intellectual stimulation is what you crave from others, and you will learn something new from almost everyone you meet. Partly due to your curiosity about what they’re doing, you will be well known to neighbors and relatives. You delight in keeping up-to-date on the latest news and gossip.

House 2: What You Own and Value
The second house goes a step outward from your own person and has to do with resources that you possess, including money. It shows your attitude toward what you own or would like to own: what you crave and covet, what you most value, how you go about getting it, how you take care of it, and whether or not you hang on to it. By extension, it can also indicate your sense of values: not just material things but also the attitudes and ideas that you hold dear.

Gemini on the Second
More than most, you understand the value of intangibles: information, intellectual property, financial instruments and paper assets. Some of your most cherished possessions may be concepts, and when you do lust after a thing, it may be a toy or game. You may also revel in the excitement of the investment game, and here, also, your interests are wide-ranging. You prefer not to keep all your financial eggs in one basket. Your preference for diversity is a good thing for your financial safety, because you tend not to be a buy-and-hold type of investor. Instead, you nimbly and frequently move your money around. Your strength is flexibility, and the ability to act quickly on new information. With this agile approach to the markets, you should be able to take advantage of the most favorable investment climates. Do keep in mind, though, that your values tend to fluctuate according to the fancy of the moment, and try to avoid being swept up by the latest fad.

Mercury in the Second
You value practical ideas. Your innate cleverness helps you to make money by using your wits, and you enjoy the challenges involved in making money. It’s important to pursue specialized skills training or an advanced education, because you are a good learner and will be able to apply what you learn to advance yourself in whatever field you choose. Excellent careers for you to explore include teaching, writing, radio, TV and other jobs involving communication.

Mercury in Cancer
You have an excellent memory, especially about things to which you have formed an emotional bond. The beliefs and traditions of your family and culture are very important to you. You prefer ideas that are known and familiar, and therefore tend to dislike fads or radical ideas. Your emotions tend to rule your thought processes, making it difficult to see life objectively. Especially when you are emotionally shaken, your thinking becomes unclear. Therefore, try not to make major decisions when you are upset.

Pluto in the Second
For you, material resources are directly equated with power and opportunity. Money is very, very important to you because you recognize that it is the key to getting what you want out of life. Once you have decided that you need something, you will work long and hard for it, not stopping until you have reached your goal. You are so aware of the relationship between the importance of your possessions and your present and future security and happiness that you demand complete and total control over them and do not willingly share them.

Pluto in Cancer
Your entire generation was born into a period of profound global change, especially in the nature and shape of the family. During the twentieth century, major calamities such as depression and world war accelerated the replacement of the old village-oriented extended family by modern cosmopolitan living.

House 3: Your Immediate Surroundings
Going a step further out from your own body and possessions, the third house has to do with your immediate surroundings and how you interact with them. The first “social” house, it describes brothers and sisters, neighbors and anyone who just happens to be near you on a daily basis. It also describes daily communication and transportation: letters, phone calls and emails, and routine journeys such as commuting to shopping, school or work. The first “mental” house, it governs early education and basic skills training, paving the way for higher education in the ninth house which is directly opposite it in the chart.

Cancer on the Third
Your mind is very sensitive to nuances and subtleties. You have the ability to see the emotional content and meaning behind the bare raw facts that are presented to you. This intuitive “sixth” sense allows you to be aware of the true motivations and intentions and needs of others and, as such, how you can best accommodate them. You are excellent at positions which demand interface with the public for these very reasons. At times, you feel insecure and tend to withdraw and become quite moody. You delight in the activities and daily routines of your family, relatives and nearby neighbors and will devote much time and effort to make your home and neighborhood a more comfortable and safe environment in which to live.

No planets in the Third
Your third house is not activated by planetary activity. For the most part, how you order your daily life activities is not an issue for you. It is something that you rarely think about or have to plan consciously.

House 4: Where You Come From
Being at the very bottom of the wheel, the fourth house is both where you originate and where you come to rest. As such, it describes your parents and ancestral background, and later the home or protected space into which you retreat each day for nourishment and sleep. A deeply personal house, the fourth is concerned with security and peace of mind, the safety of loved ones, and how you care for others and yourself. The place of your roots and the earth beneath your feet, the fourth house rules the house or apartment where you live and also real estate in general. In your trajectory through life, the fourth house shows your origins and where you are coming from, just as the tenth house and Midheaven describe your career and where you aim to go.

Leo on the Fourth
You are very proud of your family and home and cultural background. Quite the Lord or Lady of the Manor, you delight in the opportunity to entertain your guests as lavishly as your budget will allow. You will devote considerable time, expense and energy to furnishing your home in as regal a manner as possible, making it an elegant and refined showplace that will attract others to you. But beware of a tendency to be arrogant and condescending to those that you might deem to be beneath you — it does not become you. For the most part, you are kindly authoritative in your rule over your own personal kingdom.

Neptune in the Fourth
Your intuition is very strong. You have the ability to understand what is happening deep within other people, even before they can vocalize it themselves. Also, you tend to idealize people to a great degree. This probably began early on in life when you put one or both of your parents up on a pedestal and admired them for their “noble” qualities. Of course, you were greatly disappointed and disillusioned when you found that Mom or Dad had very human flaws and faults. Your home and home life reflect your need for a peaceful place of retreat from the cares of the outside world. Because of your inherent dislike of facing up to the truth in things, you may devote a lot of time and energy to hiding one or several embarrassing family secrets.

Neptune in Leo
You and your entire generation idealize aggressive behavior and the need to be individualistic. You also, however, entertain the denial of the ego as a worthy life goal. This can set up a conflict between the desire for self-expression on the one hand, and for selflessness on the other.

House 5: Playtime
After being nurtured and restored in the fourth house, you are refreshed and full of energy for play and creative pursuits. Replenished by dreams, you have creative ideas. Nurtured by your parents, you are ready to have your own children. Fresh from the security of home, you are ready to trust the universe and take risks. For all these reasons, the fifth house traditionally rules the child in you and the children around you, your own personal creativity and self-expression, plays and amusements of all sorts, gambling and speculation, and courtship, love affairs and romance. This is an outgoing house, but it is still beneath the horizon, in the territory of your heart’s desires.

Virgo on the Fifth
You have a very practical, no-nonsense approach to having fun. Your lack of romantic sensibilities can make you seem like a wet blanket at times, but you are truly not interested in all the posturings and preliminaries of lovemaking. You are quite earthy and prefer to get to the interesting parts immediately. Quite discriminating and practical, you are not attracted to casual dalliances — you prefer the security of a contracted relationship. The same attitude applies to children as well, should you have them. You are not overly doting on them, enjoying them much more once they become mature and less dependent on you. Quite creative, especially with your hands, you are attracted to those arts and crafts that require minute precision and patience, like fine needlework or the creation of elegant jewelry.

Libra on the Fifth
You love nothing better than to attend a party or social event where you can dress up and relax with congenial friends and associates. You find the whole process of falling or being in love fascinating. You are exhilarated by the interplay that happens when you and another are trying to relate. Indeed, at times, you find this so enjoyable that you carry on more than one relationship at a time. This is not because you are particularly fickle or lascivious — you just find it difficult to make choices and you do not want to offend anyone. Because you like to be pals with children, you prefer them when they are older and more mature. You have little interest in dealing with them when they are small and totally dependent on you.

No planets in the Fifth
The fifth house of your horoscope contains no planets. This does not mean that you are any less self- expressive or creative or fun-loving than the next person. It just means that your overall character is balanced to the extent that these issues are not usually paramount for you.

House 6: Taking Care of Business
After the candle-lit dinner comes the credit-card bill. Courtship is followed by the nitty-gritty of married life: babies, diapers and saving up for college. After your creative impulse comes the need to learn the technique of actually making something. And if you overexpend your energy, you get health problems. The sixth house rules taking care of business on an everyday level. This includes your job, paying bills and keeping the house clean. It also includes maintaining your body with medical checkups and a daily regimen of nutrition and exercise. In the old books it ruled servants, and it can by extension rule the way you offer service to others. It also ruled useful animals, particularly small ones like cats, dogs, chickens and pigs. Today this usually means small pets, which exist in the personal, intimate part of your life that is signified by houses that lie below the horizon.

Scorpio on the Sixth
You tend to become obsessed with your work if it peaks your interest. You then drop everything else and totally immerse yourself in what you are doing. You are willing to do the necessary research and investigation in order to find out how best to approach a given project — and the more challenging (and dangerous) it is, the better you seem to like it. You work with an intensity that makes your coworkers uneasy because they are just not as attached to the job as you are. As such, you can be trusted with important and confidential material — once you have given your loyalty, it can be forever. Your major health difficulties are caused by not dealing with stressful situations as they occur — when you postpone them, they have a tendency to burst out of you in an uncontrollable fashion.

No planets in the Sixth
Your sixth house is not activated by planetary activity. Health and work-related issues are not usually paramount concerns for you. Of course, outside influences can temporarily upset this balance, causing you to devote more time and energy to these parts of your life, at least on a temporary basis.

House 7: Relating One-to-One
If you courted in the fifth house and woke up in the sixth yoked to another in a daily routine, the seventh house gives you a chance to hammer out a relationship of true equals. The goal is wedded bliss and a true sense of relatedness, but along the way there may be fights as you each define your individuality and establish your own territory. Not only is the seventh the traditional house of marriage, it is also the house of open enemies, your sparring partners in life. In general, since the first house is you yourself, the seventh house, directly opposite, is the other person in a variety of situations. Besides signifying a marriage or sparring partner, the seventh house rules business partners, or those on the other side of a desk, such as consultants, lawyers, therapists or astrologers.

Sagittarius on the Seventh
You seek a partner who can help provide you with a sense of overall direction and purpose in life. Emotional considerations are not as important for you in relationships (either business or personal) as are the integrity and high-mindedness that a potential partner can bring to you and therefore allow you to focus your energies on something that is important and beyond yourself. This will help to liberate you and make you feel unencumbered. Once the ground rules of the relationship have been set, you will allow each other more individual freedom than most relationships can support — you are rarely jealous or possessive of each other.

Moon in the Seventh
You are highly oriented toward others. You need the security and emotional closeness of a deep commitment to a partner in order to feel at ease. You tend to attract very emotional people and, because you are forced to react to the other’s moods, that is how you learn about your own emotional responses. Your partners may tend to be moody, touchy or irritable, as well as changeable and enthusiastic. You make an impression on others which causes them to react to you. This makes relationships interesting and challenging.

Moon in Sagittarius
An idealist, you prefer the grand, the beautiful, the good and the noble. You get very disappointed when your high expectations in life are not met. Very curious by nature, you enjoy traveling and learning about other peoples and cultures. Try to avoid your tendency to ignore the small but important details of living. You are independent and free, and you want others to be that way, too. Optimistic, buoyant and cheerful, others like to have you around. You have an incessant desire to learn as much as possible about metaphysics, religion, philosophy and any other broad, deep subject. Your life tends to be punctuated by bursts of energy and frenetic activity.

Saturn in the Seventh
You have an ambiguous attitude toward relationships. You very much need to be involved with someone else in order to feel whole and complete, but you regard the whole process of relating as such a burdensome responsibility that you are afraid to get really close to someone else. Therefore, at times, you prefer just to be alone. At the very least, you demand that your partner (either in a business or a personal relationship) be quite mature, even preferring those who are considerably older than yourself (or younger — you are uncomfortable with your peer group). But once you have made a commitment, you are very conscientious about keeping any contracts or agreements made between you.

Saturn in Sagittarius
Basically quite conservative, you respect traditional authority figures and are very thankful and supportive of the laws and institutions which govern your life. You learn and accept new ideas only after having very thoroughly examined them. Ideals and abstract concepts are important to you only if they can be used in some practical fashion. You are so practical and so orderly that you have natural skills in planning, administrating and organizing.

House 8: Giving It All Away
Having achieved a relationship of equals in the seventh house, you are ready to give up your separateness in the eighth, merging in sexual union and becoming one on a deep emotional level. If the second house was about grasping and possessing, the eighth is about sharing and letting go. While the second rules your own money, the eighth rules how you deal with other people’s money and how you pool resources. On a mundane level the eighth rules taxes, but on a fundamental level it can rule giving up anything you value, including your ego and even your body. In relaxing your grasp on what you find most dear, you may find that you are really not as dependent on it as you thought. In relinquishing, you achieve a new level of freedom, and feel lighter, renewed and more alive. Related to all this, the eighth signifies mysteries such as death and resurrection, magic and the occult, and the deep parts of the psyche that are beyond our conscious grasp.

Sagittarius on the Eighth
You have a very honest, refreshing and open-minded approach to sexual matters. You will only proceed in any liaison if your high standards of ethics and morality are not compromised in any way. Once these conditions have been met, you are an enthusiastic participant — willing to experiment if you both desire to do so and enjoying and needing the more recreational aspects of one-to-one intimate encounters. You also have an expansive and enthusiastic attitude toward investments. You are willing to take risks if you are convinced of the moral integrity of any scheme. You enjoy the thrills and sporting fun of speculation.

No planets in the Eighth
The eighth house of your horoscope contains no planets. This definitely does not mean that you will not enjoy a rewarding sex life or that you will never have any resources to invest or to share in common with another. What it does mean is that these issues will not be as paramount in your life as they are for others. You will experience a certain amount of disequilibrium and/or joy about these matters, but no more than the average person experiences.

House 9: Expanding Your Awareness
Approaching the highest point in the sky, the ninth house wafts you up and out of your rut, giving you a broad and lofty view of the terrain beneath. Whereas the third ruled basic schooling and short trips, the ninth rules higher education and long-distance travel. It removes you from your everyday routine so you can see the overall pattern, the overlooked connections between things. It rules all-embracing concepts (such as your philosophy of life) and institutions (like religion and law) that stand over society and keep it bound together. It can also signify your teachers and mentors, your library, and all else that broadens your outlook.

Capricorn on the Ninth
You have a very practical approach to philosophical and metaphysical concerns. Basically, you are only interested in an idea or viewpoint if you can turn it to some immediate benefit. You are thus not attracted to abstractions because they are really only speculative in nature and you only like to deal with the known and reliable. You tend to accept the views of those whom you admire and will not want to deviate from a life course once you have set on it. You are thus orthodox and narrow-minded by choice. You do not enjoy surprises or distractions as you proceed on toward your life’s goals.

No planets in the Ninth
Your ninth house is not activated by planetary activity. The extent and depth of your life philosophy and the intensity of your higher educational experiences are not major issues for you. Look to the house and aspects of Jupiter in your horoscope to get further information on how you deal with these issues.

House 10: Your Public Self
If the fourth house showed your roots and where you came from, the tenth shows what you are ultimately aiming at in life. Whereas the sixth shows your daily job and how you make a living, the tenth signifies your career, your personal contribution, your reputation and what you become known for. Some astrologers also believe that the fourth house signifies one parent, and the tenth signifies the other. The tenth-house parent is most likely the one who prepares you for the world. The closer a planet is to the Midheaven, the more likely that planet is to be the major significator of your life’s direction.

Aquarius on the Tenth
You have the ability to work well within the structure of a large group as long as the basic philosophy that binds the group together is as humanitarian and high-minded as your own. If it isn’t, you will lead the struggle to reform it. Your career must allow you plenty of space for creative tinkering — you are always looking for better ways to do things. You are naturally attracted to careers that involve precise measurements and very complex technologies, like science, communications, electronics or maybe even astrology.

No planets in the Tenth
You have no planets in the tenth house of your horoscope. This definitely does not mean that you will not have an illustrious or satisfying career — or that you will never be properly motivated to be a success in life. Far from it, it means that these issues are not as important for you as they are for many others. It may indicate that your career goals will be driven by influences from outside of you, so pay close attention to positive opportunities that are presented to you. Look to the house and aspects of Saturn to get further information on where you are more likely to be disciplined and organized in your life.

House 11: Your Circle of Acquaintances
The eleventh is the last house of relationships: not brothers, sisters and neighbors who just happen to be around you, not one-to-one partners, but the circle of friends and associates whom you actively choose. It shows the way you make and keep friendships, the organizations you join, the networking you do, and the general way you interact with groups. After you have established yourself as an individual and learned to form personal relationships with others, you are ready to think about the common good. This is why the eleventh often signifies groups dedicated to social or other sorts of collective improvement.

Pisces on the Eleventh
Your friendships are very important to you. You tend to idealize the concept of friendship, much the same way that the ancient Romans did. You are loyal to your friends and will do almost anything you can to assist them, even if it involves personally inconveniencing yourself. Indeed, you are so sympathetic to the plight of friends and associates that you seem to have a sixth sense when dealing with them — you know what is on their minds before they articulate it. You have a similar attitude toward groups and associations, often devoting much time, energy and resources to charitable or community organizations, usually on a volunteer basis.

Aries on the Eleventh
Very sociable by nature, you enjoy getting out in the world and meeting people, especially if they can assist you in any way. You like to join groups that are sympathetic to your own particular philosophy and, at least initially, you are an enthusiastic member, willing to take on group responsibilities and duties. You may even become a respected leader and become politically active within the group. But, quite often, your enthusiasm for the group or its goals fades rather suddenly and you want to move on to some other worthy cause. Friendships also have the same pattern — initially there is a burst of enthusiasm and activity, but you soon move on. It seems that you have a hard time becoming emotionally involved with friends and associates.

Mars in the Eleventh
You like your friends and associates to be as active, vigorous and independent as you are. Very competitive, you love to engage your friends in contests or athletic events. It is important that your friends share your goals and beliefs or there will be constant conflicts and quarrels because you tend to defend your beliefs so aggressively. You have the ability to happily strive with others toward mutually shared team or group goals.

Mars in Aries
You are very independent and self-assertive, and you have lots of physical energy. You are not satisfied unless you can be the first to do something. As such, you are more comfortable in leadership positions than you are as an underling. When you are challenged by anyone for anything, you delight in the competitive process and will fight long and hard for your beliefs. You are bold and courageous and often act without thinking. At times, in your zeal to get ahead, you can be tactless and offensive. Remember that cooperation with others can speed progress toward your goals because of the support you will get.

Jupiter in the Eleventh
Very gregarious, you like being with others and enjoy nothing better than having a good time. You may find that those you attract are socially prominent or that they bring material advantage to you. If so, it is because they are attracted by the generous, noble, openhearted attitude that you display. You enjoy sharing whatever you have (and it might well be a great deal) with others who share similar humanitarian interests.

Jupiter in Aries
The way that you grow and develop is by being an uncompromising individualist. You have a great need to be yourself and to explore your latent talents and abilities. Do not be afraid to let yourself go and develop self-confidence and pride in your accomplishments. But try not to become so self-centered that you ignore the needs of others. Also, you may have to build up your self-discipline in order to focus your energies properly.

Uranus in the Eleventh
You are attracted to friends and associates who are unconventional, unorthodox, and sometimes quite offbeat. They tend to share and support your own non-traditional opinions and viewpoints. You demand that friends not attempt to limit you or control you in any way — and you do the same for them. You are especially fearful or anxious when anyone tries to make unnecessary emotional demands on you and will end a friendship rather than feel that your freedom is being compromised in any way. Your best friends are the ones who introduce you to new and startling ideas and concepts. They stimulate your thinking and thus enrich your life.

Uranus in Aries
For you, as well as for the rest of your peers, the issue of personal freedom is not just an abstract issue that can be discussed and then forgotten. You feel very deeply the loss or threat of loss of your ability to remain unrestricted and independent. And you will react vigorously and vociferously to defend your right of self- expression, no matter what the cost.

House 12: The Hidden You
The twelfth house is where planets go just after they have risen. Here planets are still wet behind the ears, blinking in the sunlight and unsteady on their feet. Feeling completely vulnerable, planets in the twelfth tend to hide. Their energies can become repressed and secretive, and sometimes they lurk as complexes in the subconscious. This is why the twelfth is associated with self-sabotage, with hidden enemies, and with prison and whatever else makes you feel confined. The traditional association with hospitals and prisons suggest that constructive ways of dealing with twelfth-house problems include helping others who are similarly repressed or confined. Also, some with a strong twelfth-house emphasis become successful as undercover workers or as the power behind the throne.

Taurus on the Twelfth
You have ambivalent feelings about the necessity to be cautious and conservative in certain important situations. While you normally live your life very liberally, floating freely from situation to situation and relationship to relationship, at the very root of your nature you are uncomfortable. You yearn for a solid and stable lifestyle in which you do not have to deal with uncertainty and the unknown. In order to allow this for yourself, you will have to “decondition” yourself to the point where you can begin to do things — like save for the future — without feeling guilty or feeling that you might miss out on something. Things will probably improve for you along these lines the older you get.

Chiron in the Twelfth
Suffering is something you know all too well. Even if you are not to blame, you will somehow find a way to feel guilty about whatever goes wrong in your life. Compassionate and sensitive, you are willing to dedicate yourself to helping others. You often fritter away hours in daydreaming and making unrealistic plans. The inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality will impact on your relationships as well as your job performance. Being familiar with emotional pain allows you to help others to take steps toward changing their lives.

Chiron in Taurus
Fear of poverty motivates your desire to work hard and make money, often to the exclusion of meaningful relationships. Beneath your impeccable appearance and sexual magnetism lies an insecure child seeking approval from peers and loved ones. Tolerant, generous and infinitely patient, you have earned the reputation for being the one upon whom others can rely. Once you begin to feel good about yourself, you won’t feel guilty about all the material things your money can buy. You are sensual and affectionate but require a great deal of tenderness and attention in return.

A Mirror of Your Uniqueness
This report is based on the position of the Sun, Moon and planets at the moment of your birth, as seen from the point on Earth where you were born. Such an arrangement of planets and stars will never be repeated in exactly the same form. Like the genes that determine your body and temperament, your astrological chart is made up of the same basic parts that other humans have, but the arrangement of these parts is uniquely your own.

You could think of your birth moment as a seed that contains the potential for how you will unfold. The arrangement of the planets at your birth does not, however, cause your body structure and temperament in the way that the patterning of your DNA causes it. Instead, the planetary positions at your birth employ the language of symbols to mirror who you are. Like a mirror, your chart enables you to see yourself from outside yourself, and it therefore extends your point of view.

To use a different analogy, your chart shows the deck you’ve been dealt, the raw materials you are given from which to fashion a life. Nobody’s perfect: we are all given our special problems to solve and our special strengths and beauties. In knowing what you have to work with, you will be better able to make use of your gifts, fill in (or at least be comfortable about) what you lack, and grow in the life directions that are right for you and you alone.

Instead of assuming that there is one norm for everyone, astrology attempts to show the special pattern that is right for you. In doing so, it can give you clues as to how you can more fully and consciously fill the unique role that you have been given in this lifetime, and enrich the world with the gifts that only you can bestow.
