Took Mom to nursing home where no artificial means were used to prolong life; room looked out on garden. Distributed (w/Mom’s input) her things to the proper individuals. When matched right person with right item, both sipped cognac. | |

| Fall | Manny, surviving triple bypass, was weak. Moved him to Scottsdale AZ where climate better. Past grudges of the way the marriage ended long past. Spent some time in the hospital when kidneys began to fail before bringing him back home. He died a short time later when EKR was in L.A. | |

Discovered she had suffered another stroke that morning or prior evening while in bed. Brain stem stroke. Refused hospital care of more than 24 hours: nothing worse than the suffering caused by present-day health care (P 277 - 78). This one left her paralyzed. |
| 1997 | Jan | Wrote The Wheel of Life – acknowledgement that if she would stop being bitter, angry and resentful of her condition, and say ‘yes’ to it, she could move on to death. |
