If you own AstroDatabank v.3, you can automatically download these
updates directly to your database! Simply establish your
Internet connection, open AstroDatabank v.3, and select “Tools” from
the menu at the top of the page. Then select “Web Update” and follow
the instructions.
Affleck, Casey
Ben Affleck’s brother Casey became engaged to longtime girlfriend
Summer Phoenix over the holidays. The couple is expecting a baby in May
2004; they have not yet set their wedding date.
Davies, Ray
Davies was shot in the right thigh on January 4, 2004 in New Orleans.
He sustained the wound while he was chasing a thief who had stolen the
purse belonging to Davies’ female companion. The musician was treated at
the hospital and released soon after.
Gray, Spaulding
The playwright/actor has gone missing, his wife reported on Sunday
January 11, 2004 at about 7 PM. Gray was last heard from at about 9 PM
the day before, when he called his Long island home and spoke with his
6-year-old son, saying, “I’ll see you soon.” He was scheduled to fly to
Colorado for a skiing vacation that day but the flight was delayed a
day. He left his apartment to have dinner with friends that Saturday but
never arrived. Gray has been suffering from depression.
Hudson, Kate
The young actress gave birth to a boy, Ryder Russell Robinson, on the
morning of January 7, 2004 in Los Angeles. One report as yet unconfirmed
gave 6:24 AM as the time of birth.

After 15 years of denials, Pete Rose admitted in January 2004 that in
1987 and 1988 he bet on baseball and on his own team while he was
manager of the Cincinnati Reds. His autobiography entitled “My Prison
Without Bars” was released at the same time. His admission of wrongdoing
has reopened debate about his suitability for induction into the
Baseball Hall of Fame.

Steinem’s husband, father of actor Christian Bale, died of brain
lymphoma in Los Angeles on December 30, 2003. The couple had been
married for just over three years.
Toland, John
The Pulitzer-Prize winning author died of pneumonia in Danbury, CT on
January 4, 2004.

The multimillionaire seems to be enjoying his new career as host of
a TV reality series, “The Apprentice,” which aired at 8:30 PM EST
January 8, 2004. In the show he plays an executive with eight male
and eight female participants trying to make more money than their
opponents and vying for Trump’s attention.
Ventura, Jesse
Beginning in February 2004 he is teaching a semester at Harvard
University as a fellow at the Institute of Politics at the Kennedy
School of Government. His Saturday night talk show has been placed on
indefinite hold.
