Barker, Bob
After 35 years of emceeing the show, the silver-haired 83-year-old host
announced his retirement from “The Price is Right.” He taped his final
episode on June 6, 2007.
Cheney, Dick
Cheney’s daughter Mary gave
birth to a son,
Samuel David Cheney, born on May 23, 2007 at 9:46 AM EDT at Sibley
Hospital, Washington, DC. The child now has his own entry in
AstroDatabank. Thanks to Shelley Ackerman, Larry Woodall, Romy Ransom
and many others who sent along the news of the child’s birth.
Costner, Kevin
He and his wife Christine welcomed their first child together, a son
named Cayden Wyatt Costner. The baby was born on May 6, 2007 in Los
Angeles.
Earnhardt, Dale Jr.
The racer announced on May 10, 2007 that he is leaving the team run by
his stepmother, with whom he has had a rocky relationship. Called the
Brad Pitt of the NASCAR world, Earnhardt wants to be a free agent.
Gennes, Pierre-gilles de
The physicist died May 18, 2007 in Orsay, a Paris suburb. He was 74.
Iglesias, Julio
The singer and his long-time girlfriend, Miranda Rijnsburger, welcomed
their fifth child on May 5, 2007, a son named Guillermo, born in Miami
Beach, FL.
Kevorkian, Jack
Dr. Kevorkian was released from prison after eight years of internment
on June 1, 2007.
Newman, Paul
At the end of May 2007, the actor announced his retirement from acting,
saying “I'm not able to work anymore at the level that I would want to."
He followed that announcement with a $10 million donation to his alma
mater, Kenyon College.
Porter, Howard
In mid-May 2007 he was found severely beaten and unconscious in a
Minneapolis alley. A week later, May 26, 2007, he died of his multiple
injuries at 10:26 PM local time at North Memorial Medical Center in
Robbinsdale, MN according to police report in the news. The case is
under police investigation.
Poston, Tom
The actor died on April 30, 2007 at his Los Angeles home after a brief,
unspecified illness at age 85. His data are rated XX but the obituaries
gave his age at death as 85, supporting the 1921 date of birth on file.

Schirra, Walter
The astronaut died on May 3, 2007 at a hospital in La Jolla, CA. The
84-year-old space pioneer died of a heart attack according to the New
York Times quoting a family friend.
Sheehan, Cindy
On Memorial Day at the end of May 2007, Sheehan announced that she was
leaving the peace movement to return home and spend more time with her
family. Claiming physical and financial exhaustion, Sheehan expressed
disappointment in the Democratic Party’s actions on the Iraq War since
their winning a majority position in Congress the previous year. She
told the Associated Press: "I've been wondering why I'm killing myself
and wondering why the Democrats caved in to George Bush."
Valenti, Jack
Valenti died on April 26, 2007 at his home in Washington DC from
complications of a stroke he suffered in March. He was 85 years old.
Hospitalized since the stroke he had been sent home just two days prior
to his death. His memoir ““This Time, This Place: My Life in War, the
White House, and Hollywood” is about to be released, and he was
scheduled to begin a book-signing tour in June.
Weatherill, Bruce
Lord Weatherill died on May 6, 2007 in Caterham, Surrey, England after a
brief illness. He was 86.
