Antonioni, Michaelangelo and Bergman, Ingmar
The
list of living cinematic geniuses became shorter on July 30, 2007 when
these two innovators died. Antonioni died at age 94 at his home in Rome.
Bergman died at age 89 at his home on the island of Faro, off the coast
of Sweden.
Bonds, Barry
Amidst controversy over whether or not he has taken illegal
performance-enhancing drugs, Bonds broke the record for career homers by
hitting his 756th in San Francisco at about 8:50 PM PDT on
August 7, 2007 (time from news reports).
Carey, Drew
The
comedian was named successor to Bob Barker as host of “The Price is
Right.” Carey makes his debut in the fall of 2007.
Elfman, Jenna
Elfman gave birth to a boy named Story Elias on July 23 in Los Angeles.
Glavine, Tom
On
August 5, 2007 the baseball phenomenon
became the 23rd pitcher to win his 300th game. Glavine is one of only
five left-handed pitchers on the elite list of 23.
Goldberg, Whoopi
On
August 1, 2007, Goldberg joined the popular TV talk show “The View” as
one of its co-hosts.
Griffin,
Merv
The
talented entertainment billionaire was admitted to a Los Angeles
hospital in mid-July 2007 with a recurrence of prostate cancer and died
on August 12, 2007 at age 82.
Houle, Debra
The
lottery winner was born in Massachusetts (MA) not Pennsylvania (PA) as
incorrectly shown in AstroDatabank. Her record has been corrected with
thanks to Juliana Swanson who noticed the error.
Johnson, Lady Bird
The
former First Lady died of natural causes on July 11, 2007 at her home in
Austin, TX at age 94.
Martin, Steve
On
July 28, 2007, Martin married 35-year-old Anne Stringfield in his Los
Angeles home.
Messner, Tammy Faye Bakker
Tammy Faye Bakker died on the morning of July 20, 2007 at her home near
Kansas City, MO. She had fought a long battle with colon cancer that had
metastasized to her lungs. Note that we’ve changed her listing in the
program from Bakker to Messner to reflect her 1993 marriage to Roe
Messner,
Rodriguez, Alex
A-Rod took another “first” on August 4, 2007 when he became the youngest
player ever to hit 500 homers.
Snyder, Tom
On
July 29, 2007, the noted anchorman died in San Francisco, CA from
complications associated with leukemia. He was 71.
Sutter, Trista Rehn
She
and her husband Ryan Sutter welcomed their first child four weeks
prematurely. Their son named Maxwell Alston Sutter arrived on July 26,
2007 in Vail, CO. Note that her listing in the AstroDatabank program has
been changed from Rehn to Sutter.
