Burgess, Anthony
We’ve upgraded his Rodden Rating to “B” (from biography/autobiography) thanks to Sy Scholfield who cites a biography of the writer by Biswell. Sy is an assiduous and generous data collector and a valued colleague. Visit his website at http://astroqueer.tripod.com/charts/sy.html

Church, Charlotte
Church gave birth to her first child "at home" in St Brides Major, Wales at 10:35 PM local time on September 20, 2007. The baby is named Ruby Megan Henson and her dad is Church's boyfriend, rugby star Gavin Henson. (Source of child’s birth info is Church’s website and various media reports; thanks to another wonderful colleague, Sarah Van Sanden, for the alert.)

Danby, Ken
The artist suffered a fatal heart attack on Sept 23, 2007 in northern Ontario; he was 67.

Gore, Al
Amid renewed speculation about whether he would run for President, Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the Nobel Peace Prize on October 12, 2007. The former vice president plans to donate his share of the monetary award to the non-profit Alliance for Climate Protection.

Hill, Grant
The NBA star and his wife Tamia welcomed their second daughter named Lael on August 9, 2007.

Kerr, Deborah
The elegant and talented actress died in Suffolk, England on October 16, 2007. She was 87 and had suffered from Parkinson’s disease.

Rather, Dan
On September 19, 2007, the journalist filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court against CBS and some of its executives for $70 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Rather’s lawsuit claims he was made a scapegoat and fired over a discredited story about President Bush’s National Guard service.

Salé, Jamie
She and her husband welcomed their first child, a son named Jesse, who arrived on September 30 2007 in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada.

Simpson, O. J.
In a story that has more twists and turns than the famed Amalfi Drive, the former football star was arrested shortly after 11 AM local time on September 16, 2007 in Las Vegas. He was subsequently charged with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm. Other suspects were apprehended as well but OJ was alleged to be the mastermind behind the suspected plot to break into a hotel room to steal sports memorabilia that O. J. claimed belonged to him.

Spector, Phil
On September 26, 2007, the judge in Spector’s murder trial declared a mistrial after the jury reported that it was deadlocked.

Thomas, Dylan
Thanks to Sy Scholfield’s research, we have upgraded this entry to a Rodden Rating of A (from memory) thanks to the research efforts of Sy Scholfield. The source notes have also been updated to include the citation of a 1939 letter written by Thomas after consulting his mother ("I was born about 11 pm.”)

Thomas, Isiah
The legendary basketball player and coach of the NY Knicks was found liable in a sexual harassment case. On October 2, 2007, a New York jury found him guilty of making unwanted advances and insulting Anucha Browne Sanders, the woman who brought the charges. He was not found responsible for paying punitive damages though the other defendants in the case were ordered to pay over $10 million. Thomas says he is innocent and intends to appeal.

Weismiller, Johnny
His entry has been upgraded to AA, from birth records, thanks to the diligent efforts of Sy Scholfield whose research uncovered that Weismiller was actually born in Romania. There has been a slight change to his time of birth as well.
