AstroDatabank Update – the clearinghouse to get the most current and reliable information on birth data and significant events in the lives of public figures. Twice monthly we publish corrections and updated news on people already in the AstroDatabank CD.

If you own AstroDatabank v.3 or v.4, you can automatically download these updates directly to your database! Simply establish your Internet connection, open AstroDatabank v.3 or v.4, and select "Tools" from the menu at the top of the page. Then select "Web Update" and follow the instructions.

IMPORTANT TIME ZONE CHANGE NOTICE:

The Guardian online reported that Hugo Chavez has changed the time zone in Venezuela.  In an article by Rory Carroll in Caracas, dated December 10, 2007, the article said “By presidential decree the country stepped back in time 30 minutes in a one-off adjustment to its relationship with Greenwich Mean Time.”  The article can be found at http://www.guardian.co.uk/venezuela/story/0,,2224971,00.html. Beard, Ralph

The former basketball player died of heart failure on November 29, 2007 at his home in Louisville, KY. He was 79 years old, just two days shy of his 80^th birthday.

Bhutto, Benazir

On December 27, 2007, Bhutto was getting into her car after a political rally when bullets let loose at close range. She was brought to a hospital and died on December 27, 2007 at about 6:16 PM local time in a Rawalpindi, Pakistan hospital.  The assassin subsequently blew himself up, killing 20 others.

In addition to adding to her biography, I have changed the Rodden Rating of Bhutto’s data from X (date without time) to DD (conflicting/unverified) in AstroDatabank. The source notes to this record have been updated to reflect the various times in circulation, and most are between 7 PM and 9 PM local time in Karachi. None of the birth times so far recorded has an original source citation except for two: one from Bhutto herself, saying only “I was born at night” and another obtained fourth-hand, citing Bhutto’s father’s astrologer for 7:21 PM. If you find additional information, especially with an original source attribution, please let us know.

Biden, Joseph

Senator Biden dropped his bid for the White House after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus on January 3, 2008.

Burton, Tim

He and his wife Helena Bonham Carter welcomed their second child, a daughter born in London on December 15, 2007.

Chavez, Hugo

We have yet another time of birth on file for the Venezuelan leader, but three of the four time variations on file are all early morning, within 1 ½ hours of each other.  Nevertheless his data are still rated DD.

The most recent submission is from Sy Scholfield who quotes Orlando Albornoz's book, "Academic Populism: Higher Education Policies Under State Control" (Caracas: Universidad Central de Venezuela, 2005), p. 719: "In one unforgettable opportunity on state TV, the President's mother had to explain the time and the circumstances surrounding his birth. By the way, he was born at 4 am, in the middle of unusual rains and winds."

Cornell, Howard

We’ve corrected his death information in the database.  The astrologer died at 10:53 AM PST on February 13, 1939 according to his death certificate submitted by Arlene DeAngelus. Dr. Cornell was 66 years old.

Cummings, Robert

Thanks to Jim Gorham’s eagle-eye, we have corrected his state of birth from MS (Mississippi) to MO (Missouri).  The coordinates in AstroDatabank were correct for Joplin, MO and so the correct chart would have been generated even with the wrong state abbreviation. Cummings’ death certificate confirms 1910 as his year of birth.

Dodd, Chris

The Senator dropped out of the Presidential campaign after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus on January 3, 2008.

Durer, Albrecht

We’ve upgraded his record to AA, from birth record, with a quote from his father’s diary located by Sy Scholfield in a biography. Please visit Sy’s website: http://www.syscholfield.com.

Fraser, Brendan

The actor and his wife of nine years announced the end of their marriage in early January 2008.

Kucinich, Dennis

His brother Larry found their 51-year-old brother Perry dead in his Cleveland, OH apartment at about 9 AM local time on December 19, 2007. Investigators found no evidence of violence at the scene but no official cause of death has yet been given.

Leon, Lourdes

We’ve upgraded her data to AA since PT now has copy of birth certificate in hand. For the record, her famous mother’s birth date is shown on Lourdes’ birth certificate as August 16, 1958.

Murphy, Eddie

Murphy married Tracey Edmonds, age 40, on New Year’s Day 2008 on a private island near Bora Bora.

Neal, Patricia

Sy Scholfield found a time of 4:40 AM (we have 4:30 AM on file) in Stephen Michael Shearer's book, "Patricia Neal: An Unquiet Life" (University Press of Kentucky, 2006), p. 14: "Patsy Louise Neal was born at 4:40 AM on January 20, 1926, in the small mining town of Packard, Kentucky." Penn, Sean

He and his wife Robin Wright Penn announced their separation and pending divorce in late December 2007.

Rota, Nino

A typo in his birth date has been corrected, thanks to Nick Dagan Best’s alert. He was born on December 3, 1911, not December 31. 

Spector, Phil

Thanks to Sy Scholfied’s research, we’ve been able to raise the rating to AA, from birth certificate which clarifies both date and time of birth. Sy’s website is: http://www.syscholfield.com.

Trebek, Alex

Trebek was hospitalized after suffering a mild heart attack on December 11, 2007 in Los Angeles.

Turner, Ike

Ike Turner died on December 12, 2007 at his home in San Marcos, Calif., a San Diego suburb. He was 76. The cause of death was not given but his wife Jeanette noted that he had been suffering from emphysema.
