Andrews, Julie
Andrews released her memoir in April 2008. The book is entitled “Home:
A Memoir of My Early Years.”
Berlusconi, Silvio
In
elections that ended on April 14, 2008, Berlusconi gained back his
position as Prime Minister of Italy.
Clemens, Roger
Adding to his headaches caused by allegations of his illegal drug use, a
news report in April 2008 claimed he had had a ten-year affair with
country singer Mindy McCready. The affair reportedly began in 1991 when
she was 15 and he was 28, married, with two children. She confirmed the
report but he said nothing “improper” happened.
Cooper, Anderson
After he missed two days of work, the TV journalist revealed that he had
had a cancerous growth removed from under his left eye on March 17,
2008.
Diaz, Cameron
Her
father died on April 15, 2008 from pneumonia and MRSA infection. He was
only 58.
Dylan, Bob
On
April 7, 2008, Dylan became the first rock musician to win a Pulitzer.
He received a special citation in New York City on April 7, 2008 “for
his profound impact on popular music and American culture.”
Hamilton, Scott
Hamilton and his wife welcomed their second child and second son. Little
Maxx Thomas Hamilton arrived on January 21, 2008 at 7:51 AM in
Nashville, Tennessee according to news reports.
Hofmann, Albert
Hofmann suffered a fatal heart attack on April 29, 2008 in Basel,
Switzerland, age 102.
Lowe, Rob
In
the suits and countersuits department, the Lowes have their hands full.
On April 7, 2008, the actor blogged that a former employee of his, a
nanny, demanded $1.5 million or would accuse the actor and his wife
Sheryl of unwanted sexual behavior. The Lowes filed a lawsuit that same
day. On April 14, their former nanny sued them in Santa Barbara accusing
both of sexual harassment and unwelcome, offensive behavior. The
problems continued to grow, and the Lowes have sued two other former
staffers for spreading lies and breaching confidentiality agreements.
Another of their former nannies sued Sheryl Lowe for sexual harassment.
McGregor, Ewan
McGregor announced on April 22, 2008 that he had had a cancerous mole
removed from beneath his right eye.
Paltrow, Gwyneth
The
actress revealed in the May 2008 issue of “Vogue” magazine that she
suffered from post-partum depression after the birth of her son Moses.
Penn, Sean
Penn and his wife put a halt to their divorce proceedings in April 2008.
Philip, Prince Consort
Prince Philip was admitted to the hospital on April 4, 2008 with
a chest infection and was released two days later.
Philippe, Prince of Belgium
The
heir to the Belgian throne and his wife, Mathilde, welcomed their fourth
child and second daughter on April 16, 2008 at 4:50 AM local time in
Brussels. Princess Eléonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie joins her older
brothers and sister, all born between October 2001 and October 2005.

Rose, Charlie
In
mid-March 2008, when he showed up on his TV interview show with a
bruised cheek and a bandaid over his blackened eye, he said he had taken
a fall. One report said he had tripped on a pothole while walking in
Manhattan and fell face-down. His producer said that the TV host made a
split decision to save the laptop computer that he was carrying instead
of his face.
Sambora, Richie
On
April 22, 2008, the musician was sentenced to three years’ probation and
three months of alcohol awareness classes after he pleaded guilty to a
drunk driving charge. He was charged for his behavior on March 25, 2008
in Laguna Beach, CA.
Walters, Barbara
Walters’ memoir “Audition” was released in May 2008. In the book and on
several talk shows, she reveals that she had an affair with Senator
Edward Brooke from Massachusetts In the 1970s.
